The appearance of mice in a summer cottage is a very serious problem. They can not only destroy the entire crop, but also cause serious damage to the house. Rodents' incisors constantly grow, so they grind them down on almost any surface. Concrete, wiring, wood, drywall - these are all things that can be damaged by mice.
Therefore, it is worth deciding how to get rid of rodents. If you don’t want to kill them, then you can use one of the humane methods to expel mice from your country house.
Loud sounds
You can get rid of rodents without killing them by using loud sounds. To do this, you can put an unnecessary stereo system or other noise sources in the cellar and regularly turn them on at maximum volume. It is enough to do this for 15–20 minutes every 4 days and within two weeks the rodents will leave the country house.
Glass jar trap
To humanely catch mice, you can use deep jars or bottles with a narrow neck. The inner walls of the container should be thoroughly lubricated with sunflower oil so that the animal cannot escape through them. A simple piece of bread or sausage can serve as bait.
After this, you need to find a good support (a brick or a wooden block will do) and place a jar or bottle on it so that the neck looks up at an angle of 30 degrees. When the mouse gets inside for prey, the inclined glass surface, lubricated with oil, will not allow it to get out.If a jar served as a trap, then before taking it, it is better to close the neck with a lid, as the mouse may jump out.
Ash
Many years ago, people noticed that mice did not appear at all in houses built on ashes. This is due to the properties of the ash, which contains alkali. When it gets on the rodent’s paws, it causes a burning sensation, and if he tries to lick it off, it also goes into the stomach. Because of this, mice try to leave such a place faster. To get rid of them, you need to grind the ash to a powdery state and scatter it on the floor of the basement or cellar. One bucket should be enough for 7 square meters.
Tansy and black root
Tansy helps drive mice out of the house thanks to its tart camphor smell. Rodents do not like it very much and try to leave the room. To do this, it is enough to collect bunches of 4-5 branches and place them in different places in the house.
Black root also has an unpleasant odor for mice, which humans cannot smell at all. However, unlike tansy, it is poisonous, so it must be collected with gloves and immediately treated with boiling water.
After this, you need to prepare a tincture of the plant. To do this, place the branches in a saucepan that is not used for cooking, add hot water, bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes. Then cool to room temperature and use a spray bottle to treat the entire room. The main thing is to remove all food away so that the infusion does not get on it.
