How to put old crystal to good use

In Soviet times, every home had crystal objects. They were carefully polished and displayed as proof of wealth and prosperity. Now displaying crystal in open cabinets is considered, if not vulgarity, then bad form. Most owners of crystal vases and glasses received these items as an inheritance. Crystal dishes no longer fulfill their function, but it’s a shame to throw them away. Typically, such items are stored in dark closets and simply take up space. But there is always the opportunity to give each item a new life.

Stained glass made of crystal shards

To do this, it is not necessary to use items in good condition. You can use fragments, or, for example, break a glass, which is the only copy left from the entire set.

To work you need to prepare:

  • wooden frame of suitable size;
  • crystal objects (bulk dishes are best);
  • glass balls and other decorative items;
  • hooks, chains on which the frame will hang;
  • silicone glue.

On a flat surface you need to arrange all the items into a composition. Large objects will make the composition more voluminous and interesting. You can use glasses of different shapes, salad bowls, candy bowls and plates. Between them it is worth placing smaller elements to fill the space.

All collage details should be secured in place using silicone glue. If this is a panel, you should attach hooks or chains to the frame, with the help of which it will be held on the wall.

With the help of such a collage you can decorate not only the interior, but also the garden or the facade of the house. Very often, window openings are decorated with such products.

Candlestick made from a glass

You can turn the glass over and place a small candle on the stem and place a decorative element inside. You can also pour a small amount of colored decorative stones into a glass and place a candle. This candlestick will create a unique atmosphere for a romantic holiday.

Lanterns for the site

To do this, just use a solar battery, a light bulb and a few old glasses. During the day, the battery will be charged from sunlight, and at night the device will help illuminate the summer cottage.

Painting old dishes with stained glass paints

An ordinary vase can also be used for its intended purpose. In order to fit it into a modern interior, you should paint the walls with stained glass paint. These are waterproof compounds that differ in different levels of transparency. Each crystal product has a shape or pattern. Even a beginner can make a vase or candy bowl unique.

Christmas tree decorations

You can make bells from crystal glasses that have lost their stems. You need to make a hole in the base of the glass using a glass drill. To prevent the glass from breaking, you need to pour a little water inside and do not use high speed. In order to remove the edges of chips, you can use a regular glass contour. You can use a bead on a wire or cord as a tongue. The glass itself should be painted and decorated to your liking.

Crystal chandelier

In order for a large ice-cream bowl or salad bowl not to collect dust, but to be useful, it can be used as a regular chandelier. To do this, simply insert a socket with a light bulb and complement the design with the necessary details. Thanks to the relief walls, you can achieve the effect of intricate lace patterns on the walls of the room. You can use one large object, or several small glasses.

To make such an interior item, you need to prepare a frame (purchased at a hardware store), wire, fishing line, a lamp with a battery or a pendant with a light bulb, crystal dishes.

You need to attach a fishing line to the lampshade, and hang the structure on a hook on the ceiling with it. The more attachment points, the better, since crystal is very heavy. Using wire, fix the glasses on the frame, which is already hanging on the hook. It is worth leaving free space between the parts. After that, a light bulb is placed in the center of the composition. If you use dishes of different heights, you can create several tiers.

Lampshade for a table lamp

It is enough to fix a crystal vase on the base of an ordinary table lamp, or even a bottle, and get an original item for decorating the interior.

Decoration for a summer cottage

From old dishes, you can make an installation or an interesting composition that will decorate the area near the summer cottage or country house.

Do not rush to throw away old crystal vases or glasses. Each item can be given a second life. A little imagination and scrap materials will turn an old item into a highlight for the interior.

Is it weak to simply use crystal products for their intended purpose?
Put the salad on, drink a glass of wine... It’s beautiful, by the way.

  2. Labyrinth

Why can’t you just use it?! I’m amazed at those who hate crystal, but at the same time buy Chinese containers at Fix Price and even praise them...

  3. Vol Natalya

Have you tried just using it? Every day. I use. And grandma’s porcelain (Kuznetsov and Lomonosov) too. My friends say that my house is the only one like this.

  4. Anna

I use crystal glassware and don't consider it bad manners. But chandeliers made from crystal wine glasses are absolutely ridiculous!

  8. Johnny

If you create such bad taste, then there is no need to impose it on others. We're already fed up with such “teachers.” They would be doing something useful, but no, they are interfering with their regulations into other people’s homes! Leave me alone, you sick people! Interrupt at least everything, but what do we care about that? Legislators suck!

  9. Anonymous

The author is simply a FOOL!

  10. Anonymous

Surprised. Is it bad taste to have a beautiful festive (and not only) table set? Using crystal salad bowls as street lights is nonsense.

  11. Tatiana

I have a lot of crystal glassware, and it was all given as a gift.Of course, there is a lot of beautiful modern dishes, but I still adore ceramics, straw, and wood. It's a pity that time passes and I can't give it - it's not in fashion. And I look, and my soul rejoices, how beautiful it is!

  12. Olga

I’d rather fill all my cabinets with crystal than use it in such “pornography”

  13. Anonymous

I'm shocked about the attitude towards crystal glassware. Crystal is the only miracle in nature! He is not subject to any criticism. This is a work of art! How can you write such nonsense! And who is this author?!! It's a disgrace!!!

  14. Galina

Be proud that history has been preserved in your home. On my table there is always Lomonosov porcelain and crystal salad bowls and glasses. It is much more pleasant to hold beautiful things in your hands than cheap stuff from Chinese markets.

  15. Lyudmila

    Lord, what stupidity, what nonsense...

  16. guest

What stupidity. use crystal dishes in the countryside in the form of some kind of fungi,
.make chandeliers and other nonsense. Why not use it for its intended purpose? what will happen. if you put candy in a crystal candy bowl and put it on the table. and drink wine from crystal goblets on holiday? Tell. People. kind??

  17. guest

    Bad article!

  18. Anonymous

Crystal will never go out of style!!!!

  19. Tatiana

How can you display crystal in the garden? That's it.

  20. Elizabeth

This is the case when the comments are smarter and more interesting than the article!

  21. Valentina

I would like to see the dishes of this author! Crystal will always be CRYSTAL, and all newfangled trends are for one day!!! Fall and not rise from your chandeliers on a fishing line!!!

  22. Lesya

The author is poisoned from Chinese rubbish

  23. Helen

It is beautiful ! This is a classic! The sound of a crystal glass!!! Will you throw away the N century Chinese vase!? The author is beautiful, it is eternal.. The other thing is that you don’t have it.

  24. Catherine

What nonsense, author. We have used it and will continue to use it! I'm delighted: "break it and make a collage on the wall." Author, you are a moron

  25. Bella

Old crystal is unique, definitely, in 50 years such products will become antiques, they will no longer be produced, but today they need to be used in everyday life and not stored behind glass in a “wall”. With my great love for ceramics in any form, still on the dining table, on an ordinary weekday (and not for guests), it is not a ceramic salad bowl that creates a festive atmosphere, but a crystal one, the juice is not in a mug, but in a crystal glass, slicing is not an ordinary plate, but on a crystal one. Try it, you will see how it lifts your spirits, even if you are the only person at the table!

  26. Jkmuf

    Nonsense!

  27. Olga

I agree with the commentators, it would ruin the crystal!!!!! The safest and most beautiful, In memory of grandmothers and mothers

  28. Inna

some kind of stupidity. Break crystal glassware to create a crystal panel. Or a collage. And to decorate the facade of a house, how much crystal does it take to break?
And we, especially those from the USSR, like the last beggars with bad taste, often drink from crystal glasses from the 60s, and put salads in salad bowls made of good old Czech crystal. Instead of using Chinese smooth-thin glass salad bowls and sugar bowls that are absolutely simple in shape. And nothing, it’s beautiful, and the rainbow still sparkles in such good old crystal products.

  29. Natusya

I would like to see what the author drinks and eats from, the author of vulgar chandeliers and mushrooms in the country, how he closes the table, what glasses or wine glasses he puts on the table, but I am happy to put crystal and glass on the festive table and everyone likes everything and the table is set clean , sparkling crystal looks very beautiful!

  30. Irina

And every Saturday my children come, and there is crystal on the table. And I also fulfilled my dream, I bought a round table, and on it there is a vase for flowers and a vase of sweets, also crystal. Bohemian crystal is amazingly good! I don’t understand the author who suggests breaking everything and making nonsense

  31. Anonymous

Crystal is coming back into fashion, because a table set with crystal was and will be beautiful...

  32. Faith

Crystal is a beautiful table setting Watch new films again on the tables in restaurants crystal Beauty cannot disappear And if you don’t like it, put it in the far corner, it will still come in handy

  33. Olga K.

You have to come up with such a crap!

  34. Svetlana

First, they tore off the walls and threw out the carpets, then they bought furniture from the 60s and 70s (note, sometimes made of natural wood!), bought artificial floor coverings, furniture made of cardboard and sawdust, and now they are starting to look for the same carpets, grandma’s chests of drawers, sideboards and sideboards. The same thing with crystal.
It turns out, again, like the Russian proverb: “It was inexpensive, it’s not too bad!”
So what? Mom and dad will take out a loan, buy a plastic car (they spat on the Soviet Volga and cursed it), an apartment, some furniture, and they themselves will eat Hercules, cabbage cutlets, cubed soup!
Nothing! As long as the children have a good life!

  35. Lily

This is called making a necessary thing unnecessary.

  36. Elena.

We enjoy using crystal glassware and not only on holidays. It looks very nice on the table, its edges shine. And how the glasses clink on holiday! No wonder they say “crystal ringing”. Nowadays, fashionable colored glass cannot be compared with crystal. In fact, crystal becomes an antique and will be valued much more over time.

  37. Tatiana

Gus Khrustalny has closed! So, this is already history! We must take care of it.

  38. Throw it away.

Oh. Author! What about you all... Some unfortunate things... Our children. By the way. After all, we grew up in normal post-Soviet families. In which traditions lived... Why are you all of high quality. Beautiful. Carrying history. I note... mostly. your personal family history - why are you presenting all this with the terrible word granny. .. you kick away from everything. Throw it away. without understanding the value of either the material or the historical value of yours personally.
Yes, use the chandelier with glasses from Auchan, experiment!!! buy glass salad bowls - go to the dacha... And the crystal….. It’s more stupid, I’m not swearing, there’s just no other word, I haven’t seen it. It's like going to weed the beds in a custom-made ball gown. Where do you get this?!

  39. Ksenia

And the author! Buy crystal before giving advice. Dyatkovo, for example, glasses, glasses, wine glasses. Set. A decanter, a jug, a couple of salad bowls - and an experiment!!!!! Would you like to? And try how the crystal sings! If it's real, the sound is magical! Do you know how to extract?

  40. Inga

I also use crystal glassware and buy it on occasion. I really like the look of a table set with crystal.

  41. Irina

Crystal is prosperity, wealth! And who doesn’t like it, a cut glass is in your hands!!!

  42. Tatiana

Where do such “writers” hatch from? Expensive and decent dishes are collected in the family all their lives; it is only cheap Chinese ones that can be bought at once for all occasions.

  43. Svetlana

What fool wrote the article? Drinking champagne from a glass bowl is a bad idea. And crystal, like porcelain, is a classic. Why, when they show some state receptions, do they drink from crystal and not from glass glasses?

  44. Elena

Crystal is beautiful, it's such a shimmer in the sun!
especially beautiful - chiseled pattern, not molded
The opinion of plastic civilization is not interesting!

In addition, such a panel is good from plastic dishes “like crystal” (EXACTLY LIKE CRYSTAL!!!), but their crystal is simply dangerous!
    very heavy!!!!

  45. Lydia

Any utensil is human labor. and each has value, I believe that you should not get too carried away with creativity in relation to quality items. create from paper, rope, wire, but don’t touch what was created by the masters, this is work for which we are grateful to them.

  46. Lyudmila

The author is out of his mind to turn crystal to such bad taste. Firstly, these are memorabilia, secondly, they are beautiful and festive, and what a ringing sound!

  47. Anonymous

The author's head is a complete madhouse.

  48. Lydia

“Now displaying crystal in open cabinets is considered, if not vulgarity, then bad form.”
The above statement is in bad taste and bad taste. Where did you grow up? From which forest?

  49. Natalie

The article is as old as time however))

  50. Tatiana

The article is complete nonsense! Crystal will never go out of style! We will decorate the festive table with crystal dishes, and let the author eat from Chinese plastic! This is definitely vulgarity!

  51. Anonymous

Nonsense. Especially the chandelier made of crystal glasses.

  52. tanya

I feel sorry for throwing away random crystal shards. And thanks to the author for the idea. Pounced.

  53. anonymous

What nonsense. Mushrooms, crystal chandeliers - did the author smell something or something?

  54. Ksenia

And my husband and I specially went to Gus-Khrustalny to buy chandeliers for our new home. And when I open my eyes in the morning, I see such beauty and shimmer! My heart rejoices! How can you bring such things into the garden? Nonsense article. I’m just sorry for the author.

  55. Tatiana

What a pity, perhaps at one time we did not appreciate what was left after our grandparents, I don’t want to think so to myself, but if our youth knew………

  56. Irina

Ugh..... How embarrassing for the author of this nonsense!

  57. Cat

Nonsense and stupidity! Of course, for those who are especially gifted, fixed-price glass is better than beautiful crystal. Yes, no modern piece of glass can compare with beautiful crystal. Crystal dishes will always be relevant if the housewife has her hands in the right place and she puts delicious salads and snacks in the crystal. And the author apparently prefers food from plastic or a paper bag. Stupidity, stupidity and stupidity again, your article!

  58. Anna

It doesn’t hurt the author to look at the price tag of crystal in a store. Decorating a garden bed will cost tens of thousands

  59. Julia

Author, I sincerely feel sorry for you... Take an interest in the cost and demand for real crystal in European stores. You will immediately lose the desire to make dubious crafts out of it.
Crystal is passed down from generation to generation; it is out of fashion, like porcelain, silverware, etc. Smart people value it; it is a memory of our grandmothers and parents, as well as our childhood. I share the opinion that crystal, porcelain, and dinnerware should be used in everyday life, and not just on holidays.

  60. Marina

I agree with all previous commenters!!! The author is just stupid!

  61. Anonymous

We have crystal. And good glasses, and salad bowls, and a large fruit bowl. We use everything. My daughter-in-law really likes the glasses and the fruit bowl, so I decided to give them to her. Still it's beautiful. Yes...and also...crystal critics. Crystal will never be old-fashioned, never. It's on the level of gold and diamonds, yes, don't grin. These are crystal works of art! (Of course, there are also stamped crafts made from mass-produced former crystal, those are not so valuable).

  62. Tatiana

Sorry, author! Your article is complete nonsense! I advise you to visit the Crystal Museum in Gus-Khrustalny.

  63. Galina

Just as Pavlik Morozov betrayed his father, so the author betrays his ancestors. Due to stupidity and narrow-mindedness, probably……………

  70. Lydia

I really love crystal! I redecorated the room and hung the crystal chandelier again. I sit, look at her and my soul rejoices, what a beauty! In the evening it shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow. The author of this article would like to say: “You have bad taste.”

  71. Elena

“How exquisite,” Orsen said in Desperate Housewives when he came to his stepson’s house and saw a crystal vase with goodies on the table.

  72. Svetlana

Crystal never becomes outdated and is always in use!!!!!

  73. Magda-Magda

That's when this chandelier is fucked on its head... Then it will be funny!!!

  74. Nika

Look at the crystal in the best houses, you can see on TV the tables set by millionaires and in the best restaurants. For those who haven’t read, you will hear that crystal is back in fashion and will never become Chinese glass, colored wine glasses and cups. Show me in which salad bowl, the salad looks more elegant. In the 30s and 40s, our mothers wore trousers and jackets, and now it is fashionable. How fashionable and elegant a girl looks in a long plain coat and classic shoes. And the girl in a colored jacket, with a bare back and torn jeans is simply funny and looks like a livestock breeder. We are in vain looking at the dirty west in wrinkled T-shirts. And the man in the suit, he’s irresistible, we brought Chinese and American dirt and rejoice at the import, in vain, in vain.

  75. Nina Koreneva

    Yes, such unanimous comments
I have never seen. I also prefer to drink wine from four
the remaining glasses. They ring very well and are beautiful. Don’t
blindly follow fashion! And, really, how can you discard Bohemian crystal?
After all, this is a work of art?

  76. Tatiana

WHY DO YOU GO TO MUSEUMS - EAT FROM CHINESE....-

  77. Marina

The author of the article simply does not have good cookware, so he writes nonsense. I have a lot of crystal and glasses and vases, I even inherited from my mother-in-law a crystal flower vase bought in Germany when I served there. Now I give it to my grandchildren, everyone is very happy and beautiful. True, they don’t store dishes like we do, they use them.

  78. Asia

God! Advice from cosmic stupidity! Well, such a vision of beauty cannot be born in your head if you read the right books, watch good films, communicate with smart, interesting people! Crystal is not just glasses and vases. CRYSTAL is beauty, nobility, beautiful chime and playful shine of all facets. And Chinese plastic.... As they say, no comment!

  79. Tatiana

I understand if it crashed! And if only because “it’s not fashionable”...And who said that it’s not fashionable? As always, let's destroy it, then we'll look for antiquities at flea markets for crazy money. Especially the vases on the garden paths - enchanting!!!

  80. Irina

Well, it’s amazing... to make up such nonsense. Last year I was in Gus-Khrustalny and visited its famous crystal museum... it’s such beauty, it was impossible to take your eyes off the shimmer and the skill and elegance of the craftsmen who created this beauty... I had a lot of crystal, but I gave more than half to my daughters... this beauty is out of fashion... and I, my children, and my grandchildren constantly use this beauty. As for the author, there is only one piece of advice: improve your brains and not be embarrassed by such articles.

  81. Paul

The author is obsessed with simple design ideas. You shouldn’t make crafts out of worthy classics. It looks like a circle of skillful hands. Not serious. Let's go. Beautiful dishes are always at a premium. Don't spoil it. And you need to develop your taste. Go to exhibitions, study prices. And then write articles. ...

  82. Tatiana

I am very glad for your comments, it turns out we have a lot of people who can appreciate and see beauty! I have always loved and will love crystal, especially if it is given as a gift from friends and family. What a memory!

  83. Tatiana

Crystal is wonderful! We must appreciate and cherish the memory if it is a gift.

  84. Larisa

The author needs to grow into crystal. Its level is drinking from a bottle or, at best, a plastic cup. When he grows up, then he will think whether such advice is needed. Let me remind everyone else that the New Year is coming, when it’s more pleasant than ever to fill a crystal flute with champagne!

  85. Fell from wild beauty)

I don’t like crystal, I don’t care about it. I accidentally saw the design of these chandeliers and didn’t get the gist of it.Citizens, comrades, gentlemen, don’t at least respect yourself. Is this a circus of fun, and what are those stained glass windows, and what’s in the field and garden? I didn’t want to write, but I did it anyway. A disgrace with a complete lack of taste, sense of time, dynamics. What are you???

  86. I

Everyone protects the crystal, the crystal is not bad, but the design of all these vases leaves much to be desired. If the kitchen is in a modern fashionable style, then you won’t fit a crystal vase with salad in there. But not a single Soviet person can throw anything away. Therefore, the article is excellent. They tell you - if you have one glass, break it into a collage, they don’t force you to break the packaging! If there are a lot of different ones, then a lampshade, lanterns. Can you imagine how the dacha will be decorated? But most likely everyone who wrote comments has a Soviet interior with a carpet and a wall, so the crystal is intact...

  87. Crystal Lover

I liked the advice: paint it! Paint it and throw it away))

  88. Tamara!

I take out crystal for every holiday! how beautiful it is! China is crap!

  89. Irina

I was amazed by the article. How far do you have to go to take crystal out into the garden?! Author, can you imagine a vegetable garden yourself? Can you imagine what will happen in the garden if your beauty scatters? But sooner or later it will fly apart.
Author, do you even imagine the history of crystal? Have you seen at least one exhibition dedicated to him? In the Moser Museum (Bohemia, Czech Republic), an entire hall is dedicated to the exhibition of supplies to the English royal court. Moser is still their official supplier. So, it’s normal for the royal family of England, but bad manners for you? Interesting...

  90. Soviet is not bad

There will be fewer lawyers for the author... I am for saying that the article is nonsense. The most nonsensical mushrooms made of crystal. And lampshades.Someone might do it and then get hit on the head with this lampshade, because the crystal is really heavy. And the panels are also nonsense; of all the tips, the only good ones are inverted glasses with decorations or candles and a bell. With crystal, you just need to know when to stop; in a single copy, a vase on the table will be appropriate, but the entire table filled with similar salad bowls is really bad manners. Measurement is needed in everything. Just like during a festive feast, a feast...

  91. Olga

I have my grandmother’s vase with the symbols of the 1980 Olympics. This is my favorite vase; there are always flowers in it. And I specifically asked my family to give me crystal salad bowls for my birthday. I love crystal on the holiday table, and not on the holiday table either. The crystal candy bowl is always on the table. Honey in a crystal vase, and even for red caviar there is a vase in the shape of a small tub, I love it. How much does a panel of crystal vases weigh? Not a single suspension can withstand this work of perverted abstractionism. Blasphemous ideas for the limited and wretched….

  92. Raisa

The name of the advice given in this article is vandalism. Well, let’s chop some shards from the Venus de Milo (her hands are broken off!) and make a collage!

  93. Natalia

NOT in EVERYONE! There were those who did not pursue this, spending their lives in queues in order to reverently place trinkets for eternal pinning in the “wall”. And such people used it very rarely, only for the sake of showing off to the guests. I noticed then a very interesting detail: whoever had everything littered with crystal in the most visible place, it was impossible to find a book in his house during the day with fire! Surprisingly…..

  94. CATHERINE

Crystal is great, beautiful, adds mood and looks impressive on the holiday table. I love crystal and always use it.

  95. Nadia!

Crystal is not only beautiful but environmentally friendly than Chinese dishes.

  96. Angela

Remember the New Year's lights, how beautiful it was, the sound of the champagne, and now how smooth the glass is. The idiot who does this and squeaks such garbage.

  97. Svetlana

For every holiday and even on weekdays, I set the table with crystal). And the clink of a glass alone is worth it. I really love crystal.

  98. Olga

Oh, the times! Oh, morals! Some people are annoyed by the fact that Russians own apartments, dachas, etc. and the slogan thunders here and there: we are children of the world! We don't need property, but freedom and rented apartments! Others went further - how can this be - the tables are set with crystal dishes! We need to chop everything up, smear it with paint.....! Author of the article, have you heard the crystal ringing? Do you know how to process crystal edges? Have you seen the colors and tints? Maybe you would recommend that royalty break the crystal chandeliers in their palaces and break all the dishes for panels? Sip your cabbage soup from a Chinese-made plastic plate, and don’t give moronic advice!

  99. Bee

Why is this “beauty” better, it’s better to let it stand as it stood behind the glass and reflect the sun’s rainbow

  100. Irina

The only thing better than crystal is crystal!

  101. Irina

Thanks to all the comments!!! Thank you for your love for Crystal!!!

  102. Anonymous

Don’t break glasses for stupid crafts. I’m from Gus-Khrustalny and real crystal is becoming less and less and it will only become more expensive

  103. Olga

In connection with the rapid impoverishment of people, this tendency arose to present rough shoes and nondescript, primitive, sloppy clothes with holes as the most fashionable trends, gradually changing people's taste and accustoming them to the idea that this is normal. In advance, people are gradually accustomed to poverty and starvation, becauseThe process of impoverishment is accelerating. Look how people are dressed now in the theater and at concerts. Everything beautiful, elegant and refined is being washed out of people’s lives, which, coupled with “unfashionable” crystal, calls people to a different life, full of beauty, luxury, prosperity and self-respect.

  104. Galya

Don't scold the author - he never held crystal in his hands. Imagine a heavy salad bowl on a chandelier. He will fall and kill. And it’s not so easy to drill through it. The fragments are even more dangerous, they are harder than the plastics from the fixed price pictures of which the author provided. And if he is a cool guy, then he serves whiskey not in a bottle, to show the value of the picture on it, but in a crystal damask. So, if it’s not fashionable to be seen, put some clear glass on the cabinet door and enjoy the crystal tableware, otherwise we’ll end up with disposable plates on the New Year’s table.

  105. I love the USSR

In the USSR, everything was done for the people, only high-quality and safe utensils. Only high-quality and best utensils were also supplied to the country from other countries, under the strict control of numerous GOST standards. Even China supplied only high-quality goods to the USSR. And God forbid, someone will supply the USSR without Quality!? Appreciate the crystal of that time. This is for the people!!! Do not give in to the imposition of such disgrace. I am glad that such comments are in defense of what is better and good. This means that we have not lost something necessary.

  106. Elena

I will never throw away crystal. I have used it, am using it and will continue to use it.

  107. Lyudmila

How nice it is to pour wine into a crystal glass and take candy from a crystal vase. And the crystal chandelier? Beauty. But the article is nonsense.

  108. Natalia

And New Year's salads in plastic!! ha

  109. Eleanor

Whaaaat!? Crystal never gets old! There are only people who come up with the fact that it is not fashionable!!!!

  110. Tina

The author is an original joker. He himself does not disturb the crystal glassware, but uses it for its intended purpose.

This is from the series “Wash the toilet with boiling water.”

  112. Tatiana

New Years is soon. Let's meet him
With the crystal clink of glasses like our parents and grandparents. Crystal is forever because it is incredibly beautiful and noble!!!

  113. Tanyusha

    Crystal is beautiful and noble.
And proving this is like throwing pearls before swine.

  114. Stall

Crystal is our past, our memories. The author of the article is a fool

  115. Svetlana

100 years in fashion...no! For thousands of years, the beautiful was valued, but now it’s “bad taste”. Haaa! bad tone - the walls are like in a barn with dirty bricks and the interior is like in an office toilet... .

  116. Svetlana

The author joked. Do you believe in mushrooms from crunchy salad bowls at the dacha? The mental hospital is crying!

  117. Lyudmila

Well, what the hell did they write and even took photographs!!!! Why should it be “used”? Why not pour wine into a wine glass, put salad in a salad bowl, and put flowers in a vase????? I'm very surprised...

  118. Lyudmila

Perhaps the author raised this topic in order to make sure that not all of our people are “hooked” on blind imitation of today’s crazy fashion, be it for dishes or ugly clothes. And I am pleased that, despite the imposition of ugly, perverted ideas on us, we retain prudence and the ability to appreciate the present, the eternal. And there are not so few of us!!!

  119. Catherine

On the contrary, I’m racking my brains about where to get crystal tableware for the holidays, such as wine glasses, a couple of decanters and a couple of candy bowls; I really want a beautiful, noble table, like distant relatives had in childhood. And, of course, an exquisite porcelain service, and not the sanitaryware that is in all stores at a bargain price.

  120. Anonymous

What nonsense, especially mushrooms in a summer cottage

  121. Skuratov

Talk nonsense carefully, trying not to spill it: ONLY TOTAL BULLSHIT IS GOOD :)

  122. Natalia

I’m embarrassed to ask where the author grew up and was brought up and who instilled a taste for life?! Crystal at all times created a festive mood for Easter! What the author suggests is something that a normal consciousness cannot understand - make beauty out of SHIT and it’s just too much to bear with people... Set beautiful tables, using beautiful dishes and cutlery, buy crystal chandeliers (not from such shitty handicraftsmen) and your mood will be wonderful, your life will not be detrimental!!! The main thing is that young people do not adopt such bad taste...

  123. Tatiana

    I haven't read a more stupid article.

  124. Elena

I love crystal. Even if a scribbler writes nonsense, he still won’t understand how beautiful it is! I have wine glasses, glasses, glasses, vases of different sizes and purposes, I have a cognac decanter. I even have a crystal key. Everything is very dear to me and I don’t hide my crystal in a closet (by the way, I don’t have a closet), we use it all the time. Here and on this New Year's Eve, crystal will sparkle on my table, champagne will sparkle and glasses and vases will delight the eye! Everything will look great on a chic tablecloth.

  125. Lyudmila

The interpretations proposed by the author with crystal dishes shocked me! This is immoral and blasphemous, such a tasteless and vulgar proposal to desecrate the magnificent, environmentally friendly products of past centuries! My family delights in using this precious heritage of our ancestors every day. And what a delicious salad they have in their crystal salad bowl, and the individual three-compartment rack allows the salads not to be mixed into one pile. What else can you compare the clinking of crystal glasses with! But they offer some unimaginable, tasteless nonsense! Shame!

  126. Marina

    What wonderful comments!

  127. Anastasia

I have never read more nonsense! It's a pity that crystal is not popular now. We still use crystal wine glasses.

  128. Tatiana

The author does not insist on anything - do it if you like.
I liked the stained glass windows, interesting. Every house has leftover glasses and wine glasses - they are advised to use them.
Why in the comments do you go on to insult a person - the idea needs to be discussed.

  129. Lyudmila.r.

I have a lot of crystal in my wall, a lot of books, a large carpet on the wall and I’m not going to get rid of it. I live warm and comfortable with it.

  130. Svetlana

The author is welcome! Nonsense! Especially, crystal in the garden... crystal dishes are cool!

  131. Victoria

Soviet crystal is prized and beautiful. It is blasphemy to use it for whipping to make counterfeits that no one needs. It must be protected, if not needed, sold; there are many lovers of Soviet crystal. There is nothing to buy in return, all the dishes are made of glass.

  132. Anonymous

I just felt better, as I read the comments, but the author scared me, what a dreamer

  133. Tatiana

My sister worked in a crystal making workshop, it was such hard work, a product of such beauty, but in the garden there was parnography. I agree with the above comments.

  134. Svetlana

Crystal in the garden! Ridiculous and dangerous! Where should I put it? In the garden, on the lawn, along the path? Let it be better stored in a box until better times. And it will become, if not an antique, then certainly a vintage one. And the idea of using wine glasses with broken stems as crafts is not so bad. But hitting and drilling on purpose is......I don’t know what to call it.

  135. Elena

Crystal is a holiday! It may not be used often, but it lifts your spirits. This is better than plastic salad bowls and disposable tableware.

  136. Lola

I have never seen anything more stupid than crystal fungi in the garden.
And everyone says life in Rus' is bad, but people have garden paths with crystal lanterns. This probably doesn’t exist in Versailles either. And in Russia, young people and teenagers are so greedy that they place crystals in their garden beds.

There are, of course, bad tastes, but this... this is just... some kind of idiocy.
This is worse than the crimson jackets in the 90s. Even they didn’t reach such stupidity in their time, they made do with chains the size of a finger.

  137. Elena

I have never seen anything more stupid. Crystal in the garden. This should have been thought of.

  138. Marina

What do you want from an author who can’t tell the difference between hand-cut and stamped crystal? Take a closer look - all the stained glass windows are made of glass (not crystal) stamping, the candlesticks are made of plain glass, because smooth crystal, without cutting, is the most expensive. It is so rare that the author could not even see it, let alone hold it in her hands. The article was written to provoke discussion and thereby earn more money from advertising. Now we have learned to make good money by criticizing and ridiculing our life in the USSR. Let us drink to our lives from real ringing crystal.

  139. Anonymous

Luminark dishes are made of polymer glass, almost like triplex glass for cars. Its advantages are that it is heat-resistant, shock-resistant, and therefore can be washed in the dishwasher. And I wonder where in France and China there are deposits of quartz sand, from which such an abundance of “heat-resistant” and other “dignified” glass products are produced? Advertising to the whole world to encourage us to use plastic utensils. Somehow, in the old man’s way, we will put crystal and porcelain with ceramics on the tables.

  140. Love

In my opinion, the author wrote this nonsense simply out of not knowing what to write about,
after all, all modern, practically disposable tableware is from poverty, and CRYSTAL is a masterpiece.

  141. Panya

Good crystal is a work of art. What a stupid idea - they presented it as a sign of wealth. Crystal vases, salad bowls, wine glasses, dishes - any product made of crystal was always considered a good gift that brought joy. And homemade items made from shards of glass and crystal, as well as crafts made from plastic bottles and metal beer containers, are vulgar and tasteless.

  142. Lyudmila

The author cannot afford crystal. Let him go to the store and look at the prices. All over the world, crystal is a sign of wealth and costs accordingly.

  143. TATIANA

The author is either a fool or is this an attempt to start an activity on the Internet (
This nonsense is called the second life of crystal! Yes, such a transformation will bring tangible benefits to the owner of the products, and his life will turn into pure pleasure and joy. So this dish was just standing, and now it will not just stand, but stand with benefit!

  144. Elena

Those. the author imagined that I, afraid of appearing vulgar in someone’s eyes, was taking crystal glassware to the trash heap, and out of the kindness of my heart I decided to demonstrate my own creativity and stop me. And the fact that I use the dishes for their intended purpose does not occur to him. He believes that at the holiday I place plastic disposable dishes in front of the guests, so that God forbid (!!!) they do not suspect me of vulgarity.

  145. valentine.

The author has lost his mind. The most delicious coffee is when you drink it from Lomonosov porcelain.

  146. Risha

what stupidity...crystal is a classic, just like good porcelain and glass, by the way, is also a wonderful thing, unlike plastic.

  147. Maria.

Judging by the comments there are still normal people, I thought that I was the only such fool left - I prefer to drink champagne from a crystal glass, but I should have decorated the beds or put a vase on my head!

  148. Svetlana

I love drinking crystal and enjoying eating it

  149. Olga

Bravo to us, people! We know how to appreciate beauty! How they rushed to protect the crystal, great! I never lived particularly richly, but crystal... No, I didn’t save it, but it was given as a gift, left from my parents - I love it very much!
Crystal mushrooms in the garden, is this some kind of joke? It’s hard to believe that this is serious... and these panels and chandeliers, well, handicraft and handicraft, will neither please nor surprise anyone.

  150. Anonymous

The author has probably never had anything like this in his life, and maybe he hasn’t even held it in his hands. If there had been at least one thing, it would hardly have split it.

  151. Alina

How can you not love yourself to be ashamed to eat and drink from beautiful crystal glassware!
It is bad form and bad taste to waste crystal on these nightmarish “crafts.” Although, this was not the case in history. And tapestries were used for bedding for animals, and antique furniture for kindling, and books for lighting...

  152. IRINA

On an excursion to the suburban residence of Elizabeth II, we were shown one of the halls for gala dinners. There were tables set with dishes. So all the glasses were CRYSTAL! One must think that Elizabeth understands how tables for high-ranking meetings should look.
We from the USSR also understand that such a table with such dishes already lifts the mood and warms the soul, if this tableware came by inheritance or was bought by ourselves with dear soul.

  153. Maria

We bought an apartment with an inheritance: natural carpets on the walls, crystal chandeliers, a lot of crystal in the wall, a Polish table service and a German tea set, cupronickel knives, forks, spoons, many ceramic, crystal and colored Czech glass vases. When I asked the guys (they inherited the apartment from their grandmother), what about all this... they gave us 5 thousand so that we could hire Tajiks who would take it all to the trash heap. I say that at least take one set as a souvenir, the answer is “killed”... THEY have square dishes from IKEA! I’m already silent about books...

  154. Michael

    ...the author is burning...

  155. Natalia

Why use crystal glassware in any other capacity? The beauty of this dish lies in the artistic designs of various facets. Artists worked on this. It's better to give it to someone who needs it.

  156. Anatoly

There are many fools. They can't buy it. Now there is no crystal and they cannot produce it. There are rough glassware all around for the price of expensive crystal. So they talk nonsense, who cares?

  157. Svetlana Cini

Do you even know how valued crystal is in Europe?

  158. HOPE

Comments in defense of CRYSTAL are like a balm for the soul! I write with a capital letter, because... it is not only elegant, solemn, beautiful, but it is also a work of art. There are such masterpieces!!! Anyone who has been to crystal museums will support me. I love handicrafts, I appreciate handmade products into which craftswomen put their souls, but CRYSTAL... How can you break it to make something... Sacrilege! I really liked Olga’s comment, I support her 100%! We are weaned off beauty by imposing torn and sexless clothes, disposable dishes, and all kinds of fakes. The theater is a temple for me, there is a special atmosphere there! And suddenly, in this TEMPLE, people appear in jeans, sneakers, as if this is a walk in the park, in ordinary clothes, as if they decided to lie down in a chair at home... No, I will set the festive table and there will be crystal on it! I will only go to the theater beautifully and smartly dressed! Let them think I'm retarded!

  159. Natalie

Nonsense, the author has no sense. no imagination

  160. Svetlana

My relatives live in the city of Gus-Khrustalny. This is a city of master glassblowers who made crystal products. What a magnificent crystal museum, and what kind of crystal vases and glasses there are. You just need to go on an excursion and see. For some reason, the founder of the crystal production, Maltsev, invested in all this their money for the development of crystal production. What a splendor it is to see and use this beauty at home. Yes, now there is no crystal on sale, but in the fixed price list there are Chinese counterfeits of our crystal: boats; sugar bowls, so people buy them for gifts, which means they are in demand.

  161. Elena

And I just put it on the table. I put salads in salad bowls, pour wine into glasses...

  162. Valentina

Wine, cognac in crystal glasses, vodka in crystal glasses, salads in crystal vases - perfectly decorate the festive table, sparkling with carved glass in the light of candles and garlands. Only those who are confused by some invented fashions (which like to show off) can discredit simply beautiful dishes. Happy new year 2020 everyone. Have a wonderful, festive mood, moderate drinking, tasty and healthy food!

  163. Ilyich

Well, yes, crystal dishes need to be disposed of somehow, and you need to drink and eat from plastic dishes or, at best, from glass. Yeah, the author’s artistic sense of taste is all over the place!

  164. Elena

Crystal is not vulgarity, beauty cannot depreciate. Everything can be slandered, history, culture, which is being done successfully now

  165. Nadine

At the beginning of 2019, in the Tsaritsyn Museum there was an exhibition of royal dishes! And how much Crystal there was! What a beauty, both silver and gilded! The whole nightmare is that in Russia there is no longer crystal at all! The crystal goose does not work as I read in On the Internet! And for him, for his work, they sell cheap stuff from China! There is even a chandelier store, but this is China! So, guys, take care of the crystal! Every day I drink medicine from my grandmother’s glass, I take this luxurious glass and it becomes more fun for me!

  166. Faith

Bad manners is pointing out bad manners to someone. Everything else is a matter of taste.

  167. Elena

Crystal dishes look very beautiful and elegant. They don't produce this now. How can you store it in a closet or beat it! This is simply barbaric! How can you advise using broken glass or crystal? This is generally a bad omen, everyone knows about it. It is not recommended to store dishes even with chips. I was in a glassware store, where a woman came in and asked: “Do you have any crystal?” And the salesman answered her that it was not fashionable at all, but the woman told her that crystal is for all times, it will never go out of fashion! Like this!

  168. Anonymous

I agree with the authors of the comments!

  169. Ljubomira

They don’t want to value or preserve anything.
Hurry up, let's show off your skillful hands.
We have had crystal in our house since 1977. And I’m glad that it survived.

  170. Tatiana

Go, author, to the website of the first German store. Bohemian crystal there is not cheap. Crystal tableware is very beautiful. By the way, I also love glasses, goblets and tumblers made of plain glass - I have all this in the house. I use it according to my mood. If you want a special holiday in your soul, I take out the crystal. And it’s standing in the cupboard, behind glass, not in the closet, writing nonsense. In general, I consider a tribute to fashion, even if sometimes completely unacceptable for a particular person, to be in bad form.

  171. Olga

Crystal is a timeless classic. He is good at all times. Of course, you can create something from random fragments, but this is a dubious decoration, a homemade product for crazy hands. I will definitely never hang something like this in my home. And crystal mushrooms will not last long in the beds: they will be carried away and, in addition, the beds will be trampled.

  172. Hope

I was pleased with the comments in defense of fine art. People still have taste and common sense. Unfortunately, the author’s upbringing and education are not enough. Disposable tableware is by no means an item of luxury, grace, craftsmanship, or the imagination of the author - artist. Learn beauty, take care of art. “Very often they decorate window openings with the help of such products” - but REALLY, really???

  173. hope

    crystal is always appreciated

  174. Elena

I wanted to write - to stand up for beauty and criticize the idiocy of the author. I won't! - everything has been said.

  175. in and

I love crystal, the real thing gives such a beautiful sound. When everyone threw away real expensive chandeliers in favor of fashion and installed plaster junk, I didn’t pay attention. Apartments have turned into soulless offices. Real designers don't live in this, they only collect what they like

  176. Elena

She has accompanied tourists from South Korea more than once. They have an obligatory request - to stop by the flea market, they look for crystal there. The director of a Korean travel company visited my home and called my husband and I wealthy people after seeing my “exhibition” of crystal. I got all the crystal from my parents, and I take care of it and use it.And glasses in everyday use, and glasses and shot glasses on holidays are filled, and salads are tastier from crystal salad bowls, and flowers are more beautiful in crystal vases. The son asked to take care of the Bohemian glasses and said: “When I get married, I’ll take them.” So there is no need to teach us what kind of dishes to expose to fungi in the garden

  177. Hope

And in our country, not a single holiday table is complete without crystal dishes. Salad bowls, gravy boats, wine glasses... you set the table - beauty.! But what about the crystal ringing?!

  178. Lena

Crystal will never go out of style. I also have crystal glassware, but I rarely use it. I treasure it as a memory, because these are gifts. Whether it’s vulgarity or bad taste, I don’t know, but I keep them in a sideboard behind glass, along with glass and porcelain dishes that are over 50 years old.

  179. Surkova Elsa Platonovna. Nizhny Novgorod. It is necessary

The proposal is either humorous or abnormal.

  180. Alex

Great! Also, fill some porcelain cups and plates; you have a Madonna set lying around; it will also make wonderful shards. Soviet porcelain figurines - these also went to pieces!!! How did you forget about Murano glass? Bohemian glass - right there! And with these wonderful fragments you can paste over not only the walls in the living room, but also the walls of the toilet, and the toilet itself too! Beauty!…

  181. Irina

    Bullshit!!!

  182. Hope

And you had to spend so much time writing such nonsense. I even got a shiver down my spine. First of all, it's very beautiful. Secondly, this is a huge work of crystal craftsmen. Yes, you just never held crystal in your hands. These are dishes for the table for every day, and not for collecting dust in the closet.

  183. Lilya

Two things are infinite: the universe and stupidity. Although the infinity of the universe can be questioned. Your stupidity, author, is endless.Get busy, like cleaning up after New Year's Eve.

  184. Anonymous

in the photo in the article there is not much crystal, author))) off topic

  185. Olesya

Under every comment in defense of crystal glassware, I want to put my full agreement... I am pleased with the huge number of like-minded people... and the “moderators” skip such stupid articles...

  186. Gennady

Didn't Aftor escape from the Duma? Or likes for reviews are the main goal.

  187. Tatiana

For those who convert crystal vases into panels, I advise you to visit the city of Gus-Khrustalny. There is a wholesale market there. 5 years ago the entire market was flooded with dishes and all sorts of nonsense, ceramics and other nonsense. Now a quarter of the market is in crystal pavilions. There are chandeliers and dishes and vases. Very beautiful. And the prices are reasonable. Crystal is back in fashion!!!!

  188. Lyudmila

Crystal always lifted the mood of those who used it.....for its intended purpose.....

  189. Eh!

There is nothing bad that the beauty of crystal still excites most people. Beautiful dishes have always been in fashion and it is much more pleasant to eat from them than from plastic. Although plastic is appropriate in nature, at barbecues... people relax there, and plastic is not expensive for such events. You can’t take chic Bohemian glasses or crystal salad bowls into nature. There must be moderation in everything. And the caressing clink of crystal glasses for seeing off or celebrating the New Year??? Without this, these are our traditions, which we ourselves are slowly getting rid of. Indeed, in the new world there are other tastes for everyday life, but I’m happy with crystal and let it be “pressed”.This is my life and I don’t want, to please some new fashionable designer, to get rid of old dishes, crystal, chairs, old carpets, which, again for the sake of fashion, have migrated from the walls to the floor... Modern people strive for “European-quality renovations” and the like, well, let them live like this, and let the generation of grandmothers live with crystal, walls and books (not all, of course). It’s not for nothing that one character from the famous film said: “Some people like oranges, and others like pork cartilage...”
I agree that we throw into the landfill what we think is not fashionable - crystal, books, dishes, carpets, wooden furniture, but some 50 years pass and the descendants begin to “snoop” through flea markets, garbage dumps, abandoned attics, looking for the same Crystal, books, dishes, furniture that are no longer needed are sometimes bought for a lot of money; this is what is now called “junk.” There is a time for everything... What we have, we don’t keep, but when we lose it, we cry...

  190. Irina

The proposals of the author of the article cause, at a minimum, bewilderment. By mutilating the crystal, perhaps the author is trying to forget his personal past? I've been living in Canada for a long time. I brought here family crystal from Soviet times. It sits in my mirrored sideboard in the most prominent place in a stylish apartment in the middle of Toronto - it gives character to everything modern. Sometimes I use it. Plus, I buy additional items like Swarovski that harmonize perfectly with Soviet crystal. Those who don’t come in stand and look for a long time - they say how beautiful it is. It looks expensive, elegant and elegant. In some stores here you can find items made from Czech Bohemia crystal (not cheap) - I plan to buy more.

  191. Valery

Displaying crystal is bad manners! Well, you gave it.It is bad taste to display modern Chinese junk on the table, and eating and drinking from the same Chinese plate is vulgar.

  192. Galina

    Nonsense.
Lanterns for the dacha, chandeliers, etc. Break everything, throw it away and set the table with Chinese vulgarity.

  193. Irina

I'm so sorry I can't like all the latest comments.
The limit on them has been reached.
In recent years, I have become lazy about using crystal, since it is easier to wash dishes in a PMM than to carefully wash each glass under the tap.
I even felt guilty after reading the comments.
New Year is in two weeks.
I'll put the crystal on the table!
Let's rejoice! Then I’ll slowly wash everything and put it back in the closet :)
    Thanks everyone!

  194. Manya

    Thanks everyone for your feedback...
Dishes are always needed in the house.
Crystal is hygienic and beautiful. Dishes love cleanliness!
I wish you to rejoice in what we have!

  195. Ellie N.

Actually, I really liked the idea of turning a glass into a candlestick or a bell for a Christmas tree, but... NOT in the crystal version: you can take glass. I completely disagree with the rest. Especially with the one where they advise to break it. It was rightly said that crystal is a classic, it is beauty!

  196. Anonymous

Author, buy German crystal, at least one vase (price from 70 thousand rubles) or Czech crystal from 20 thousand rubles. I think you could say: expensive. Well then, Chinese glass, everyone can afford it - 3 thousand. They are now good at counterfeiting crystal. Only crystal is 24 percent lead, which is why it sparkles with iridescence. In crystal things, a lot of the cost lies in the material itself. Go to the websites of online stores selling our crystal, prices have risen greatly. Ten years ago, the heirs took Romanian furniture, trimmed with natural veneer, with solid veneer, to the trash, the smart ones took it and restored it.And now on Avito they put them up for sale at a very good price, and they sell quickly. For example, the "Philippa" bedroom from the 70s - 160 thousand rubles. But the chipboard furniture of those years is not on sale, it probably fell apart long ago. A panel house or a brick house from the 30s, solid wood or chipboard furniture, ceiling lights or a beautiful crystal chandelier - people will always argue about what is better. So many people, so many opinions. But, in the terrible 40s and 90s of the 20th century, many were saved from starvation by the sale of high-quality, solid things. Those who had crystal, good porcelain dishes - they brought them to the opening consignment shops. Yes, maybe at a low price, but it was a liquid product - it found a buyer and people could live on the money received. No one knows what awaits us in life. In addition to money, you always need to have quick liquidity items that can be converted into money. Apartments and country houses do not belong to this category.

  197. Olga

You're a fucking collage artist! Collages, chandeliers, mushrooms(((((crystal gnomes - that's definitely wretched. But crystal is beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, elegant and fresh. And at the same time, it's suitable for everyday use. And as a bonus, it has the smallest amount of bacteria.

The other day, a huge flowerpot broke. Once my husband was given it at work for good work. My husband has been dead for 34 years. He had a good memory, now I can't bring myself to throw away the shards.
