The duration of roses blooming in the garden depends not only on the type of flowers, but also on their care. Although there are repeat-blooming species of the plant, improper care will reduce the abundance of flowers on the bush. To avoid this, you need to know methods for extending the life of flowers that will promote re-blooming.
Trimming
For the health and lushness of the bush, proper and timely pruning is necessary. There are two basic rules here:
- You can't cut a faded rose too late. When the flower begins to crumble, a “capsule” with seeds is formed instead. If you do not cut off such inflorescences, the bush will stop blooming altogether. In this case, the plant's energy will focus on ripening the seeds rather than creating new buds.
- You cannot cut very close to the flower cap, otherwise the new peduncle will be weak. Such a flower will break at the first wind or rain. It is better to trim the shoot at a distance of the fourth full leaf on the branch. At the same time, pruning too low to the root threatens to slow down the development of new buds.
You shouldn’t prune a lot, because the health of the bush depends on its splendor. Leaves play an important role in the development of garden beauty. Thanks to them, the entire rose bush receives nutrients from the sun, water, and fertilizers.
Top dressing
During the flowering period, it is especially important to fertilize the rose, then it will gain strength to create new inflorescences. Feeding should be done regularly, preferably at least twice a month. This will provoke lush, abundant flowering and give strength and health to the queen of flowers.
You can use both store-bought mineral and organic fertilizers and those prepared at home. Purchased fertilizers should contain a maximum of minerals, such as zinc, nitrogen, calcium.
In addition, there are traditional methods of fertilization. For example, mix 20 grams of yeast with two tablespoons of granulated sugar. Wait for fermentation, pour water into a ten-liter bucket and water the roses. For each bush you need to allocate one liter of fertilizer.
After a few days, prepare another solution. To do this, you will need to pour a glass of ash into a bucket of water and pour a liter of solution under each bush. Lush flowering, pleasing to the eye, will not take long to arrive.
Watering and mulching
Another simple and effective way to improve the condition of a rose and, as a result, enjoy abundant flowering is watering. During the flowering period, the rose requires abundant watering and moist soil. To maintain moisture, mulching is used, thanks to which the roots will be protected from drying out and overheating in the sun. Humus, straw, and sawdust can be used as mulch, which are sprinkled after loosening and watering the soil under the bush.
Thanks to these actions, the rose garden will become blooming, beautiful and healthy. There is nothing complicated here, so any amateur gardener can cope with this type of flower garden care. By systematically applying these simple rules, the luxurious queen of the garden will delight with her beauty until late autumn.
