Many summer residents and gardeners have encountered such a problem as the appearance of a mole on a plot of land. In principle, the animal does not cause much harm, with the exception of molehills (hills), which spoil the aesthetic appearance of the garden, and constant digging, which leaves the root system of plants bare. They also feed on worms, which are necessary for loosening the soil. But the advantage is that moles eat mole crickets.

How to get rid of the earthen beast forever? What methods and designs can be used?
Bad smell
For this method you will need rotten fish (for example, a herring head), creolin, ammonia or tar. A fish or a rag with the specified substances must be placed in a molehill and pushed deeper.
As gardeners say, the method is not the most effective.
Petard
No, this is not a brutal method, since the mole is “smoked out” with sulfur smoke. You will need an ordinary sulfur bomb, which we place in the dug-up molehill and cover with a bucket.
Since moles have a keen sense of smell, literally within a day the uninvited guest will leave.
Noise of alarm clocks
Four cheap small alarm clocks with AA batteries are best suited. They need to be wound up so that the ringing occurs every four hours, placed in a jar and tightly closed with a lid to prevent water from entering.
Now the alarm clocks need to be buried in the ground around the entire perimeter of the site or left in a molehill.
Cans
One of the easiest ways to drive a mole out of your garden is to create noise and vibrations in the ground.You will need iron, wooden or plastic rods buried 20-30 cm in the ground, and tin or aluminum cans with a hole in the middle. It is advisable to install many such structures along the entire perimeter of the earth, since their area of action is small.
This option is suitable for people who have surprisingly strong nerves.
You can use weather vanes with the same success. This is a more convenient and pleasant alternative to iron cans, as it has the same effect, but looks more interesting and works almost silently. You can buy windmills at any flower shop, market, or make them yourself.
Exposure to ultrasound
Ultrasonic devices can be purchased at garden stores and markets; they vary in power and area of effect depending on the price. Most often they are powered by a solar battery, but there are also ordinary batteries. Usually two or three devices are installed per site.
Since many animals can hear ultrasound, this will also help get rid of rodents and snakes.
Planting leguminous plants
You can scare off a mole with the following beans:
- beans;
- peas;
- lupine;
- lentils.
There is also an opinion that moles do not like bulbous flowers along with beans:
- daffodils;
- tulips;
- hyacinths;
- imperial hazel grouse;
- marigold;
- calendula;
- onion;
- garlic.
According to gardeners, these two methods are very questionable.
underground barrier
This is the most effective way to prevent moles from appearing in your garden or vegetable garden, but it only works if you set up a barrier in advance. This is convenient and the design will last for many years, but its implementation is much more difficult than others.
The following materials can be used for an underground fence:
- unnecessary sheets of slate;
- roofing felt;
- iron sheets;
- fine plastic or iron mesh.
Bury at least half a meter underground. The mole simply will not be able to get into the fenced area.
Of all the methods listed, the most effective are noise and a barrier, but the barrier is for small areas. From my four-year experience of fighting moles, the most effective is noise (as soon as I turn on the lawn mower, the number of moles on my plot of 25 acres decreases significantly), and tin cans on iron rods are a fiction, since the wind does not always blow and mole passages go around this rod. A pump from a well also helps, but a concrete mixer is best (just kidding).
