In Europe, they are actively engaged in improving soil fertility with natural components. European agronomists do not consider aerated compost tea (ACT) an innovative technology. After many years of practical use of the product in the West, the time has come to introduce it in our country.
The meaning of using ACC
Soil loves beneficial microorganisms when there are large concentrations of them - colonies. Compost tea is considered:
- stimulator of vegetation development;
- liquidator of pathogenic microbes;
- strengthener of the root system and leaves;
- structurizer of fertile soil.
Beneficial microorganisms at the heart of the fertilizer are a natural shield against negative effects on garden trees and vegetable crops.
Compressor and bucket in the manufacture of AKCh
For a test batch, the 10 liter bucket is replaced with a 3 liter jar. The composition is the same in both cases. Next, an aquarium or more powerful compressor is used.
Water is used without chlorine after collecting it during rain or when snow melts. Liquid from a well is also suitable if ground sources are not contaminated. You can’t do without a sweetener in the form of molasses, sugar and jam.
Compost (rotten grass, rotted animal droppings) is added based on the volume of the batch. For a 3-liter jar, 100–200 g of life-giving base is enough. For a 10 liter bucket, the volume of compost is increased to 1 liter.
Some experts recommend adding 1 tbsp to the main composition per 1 jar. l. grated apple, decoction of fish and seaweed. Instead of jam, they use molasses - molasses, a by-product of sugar production.
Compressor operation is 24 hours at ambient temperatures less than +30 °C. It takes 18 hours to make compost tea at temperatures of +30 °C and above. As a result, abundant foam is formed. Its putrid smell instead of the aroma of bread yeast is a reason to throw out the composition and prepare a new one.
Compost tea without using a pump
If it is impossible to use the pump and compressor, improvised means are used. We will have to abandon the automaticity of the process, as in preparing the ACC.
Fill ⅓ of a 10 liter bucket with the nutrient. Do not use tap water to dilute the composition. Only well, melt or spring liquid is suitable. The compost is mixed with a stick for 6-7 days. The procedure is performed 2-3 times a day.
The formation of foam on the 6th or 7th day is a signal that the plants are ready to feed. The compost is filtered through cheesecloth or a stocking is used. At the beginning of the process, humus is placed directly into it.
Mode of application
The composition is sprayed in large drops without the desire to use the shallow irrigation method. After placing the seedlings and seeds in the soil, it is watered with fresh tea.
Vegetables are sprayed more often - a couple of times a month. For fruit trees, it is enough to treat the leaves and soil near the rhizomes 3-4 times a year.
It makes no sense to buy chemicals when you can make compost tea. It does not require large investments and allows you to reap a rich harvest.
