Gardeners spend a lot of money on purchasing products to protect plants and fruits from various diseases. However, everyone forgets that an ordinary mushroom, which everyone usually avoids, can help protect the garden. The tinder fungus, more often classified as a parasitic species, will help cure an entire garden of serious diseases.
Not just any tinder will do
The following types of polypores that harm fruit-bearing trees are ideal for fertilizing garden plants:
- scaly;
- flat;
- yellow and others.
In this way, you can rid the tree of the parasite and thereby give strength to another plant.
Preparing a potion for garden diseases
In order to prepare a solution to stimulate plant protection against all diseases, it will be necessary to convert chitin into chitosan. The natural source of chitosan in our case will be the tinder fungus. The substances contained in it are plant growth stimulants. This reaction can be carried out at home in two ways: alkaline and acidic. Do not carry out this reaction in an aluminum container.
Preparing the mushroom for the reaction
It is necessary to grind the extracted tinder fungus to moderately fine chips. This is easier to do by hand because the mushroom has a layered structure. Then you need to split the mushroom into small particles of 3-5 centimeters.The next step in preparation is mixing with water in a one-to-one ratio, for example, one liter of mushroom slivers to one liter of water.
Start of reaction
After the chips are saturated with moisture and partially fall to the bottom, pipe cleaner is poured into the resulting mixture of tinder fungus and water in the ratio (1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water). At home, it is better to use an alkaline method for preparing a chitosan solution, since a pipe cleaner is the simplest alkaline source in everyday life. The composition (look on the packaging) must contain sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or potassium hydroxide (KOH).
Reaction
After mixing the tinder fungus, water and pipe cleaner, the color of the solution will become dark, and the tinder fungus will also change color. After the color of the solution changes, you need to cover the container with a lid and leave for a day. The final stage of the reaction is boiling the mixture for 10 minutes. The solution should be allowed to rest for another day.
Result
The result is a very thick dark solution, which must be filtered through cheesecloth into a non-aluminum container. Under no circumstances should chitosan come into contact with the eyes or skin. The solution is used in parts within six months after preparation, regardless of the ambient temperature.
Usage
There are several ways to use a chitosan solution depending on the object being watered:
- Stir 1 teaspoon of chitosan in 0.5 liters of water. The seeds should be soaked in this solution for one day to saturate them with strength.Such seeds will more confidently resist diseases, germinate faster and produce excellent fruit.
- Stir 1 tablespoon of chitosan in 5 liters of water for a comprehensive treatment of plants in order to prevent a number of diseases, including rot and black leg.
- Mix 3-4 tablespoons of chitosan in 10 liters of water to spray plants to protect them from fungal infections.
As a rule, adult or growing plants are fertilized with a chitosan solution no earlier than mid-July.
