3 ways to keep your silverware shiny

Silverware looks impressive, but tends to darken over time. How can you clean a set of dishes made of this metal until it shines? Here are 3 reliable ways.

Citric acid or lemon juice

These products are record holders in terms of how they are used in everyday life. They do an excellent job of removing various types of dirt on dishes and furniture, as well as on clothes, removing unpleasant odors and doing many other useful things. They can also be used to easily clean silver items.

To clean silver items, you can use a special mixture containing lemon juice. A tablespoon of juice is mixed with half a glass of milk powder and one and a half glasses of water. The dishes are placed in this mixture and soaked overnight or for 12 hours. After the specified time, the dishes are washed and wiped dry with a microfiber cloth.

If there is no lemon juice, then citric acid will do. Only the recipe will be slightly different. Half a liter of water is mixed with 100 grams of acid. A piece of copper wire is placed at the bottom of the pan with the solution. Then silver is placed there, and the whole thing is boiled in a water bath for half an hour. Then the dishes are washed in cold water and dried.

Sour milk or curdled milk

This cleaning method was known back in the days of our grandmothers. It is proven and completely safe both for the silver itself and for human health. It does not require special knowledge or additional training. To clean, simply place the dishes in a container with this product and keep them there for a few hours. Then rinse the dishes in warm water and dry them.

Table vinegar

This is one of the easiest cleaning methods. It is available to anyone and does not require large financial investments or long preparation, and the ingredients can be found in any grocery store. To clean silver items, you can take regular table vinegar with a 9% concentration. It needs to be slightly warmed up, and then put the darkened items in there for about 15 minutes. The dark spots will quickly disappear, and all that remains is to rinse and dry the devices.

All these methods are extremely budget-friendly, and even a child can handle them. They also do not require large financial investments and can easily be done at home without the involvement of specialists. Knowing these methods, you can turn old darkened devices into table decoration.
