How to quickly and safely clean a fine grater: a few simple and proven life hacks

Despite the wide variety of kitchen appliances, housewives often use a regular grater. In the process of cooking, the tool gets dirty and clogged. It is recommended to wash the grater immediately after use, before food residues harden. But there are times when the housewife forgets to do this, and pieces of food get stuck tightly in the holes of the grater.

The most difficult part of the process is cleaning the fine grater. Ordinary kitchen sponges tear on it, and there is also a risk of damaging the skin of your hands.

There are several proven ways to remove stains.

Soaking in warm water with lemon juice

The instrument is soaked in a container of warm water, a few drops of lemon juice are added and left for 15-20 minutes. After soaking, soak the grater with a nylon sponge with a drop of dishwashing detergent and rinse in cold water. You can also, after soaking, pass a slice of lemon over the tool, leave for a couple of minutes and rinse with water.

Baking soda + hydrogen peroxide

If the remaining food on the grater has dried out, you need to wet the grater, sprinkle with soda, pour in peroxide and leave for 10 minutes. During the reaction, foam is formed that corrodes the dirt - it will come off easily, then it will be enough to rinse the device under warm running water.

Vinegar

This method will require 2 tablespoons of 9% vinegar and water.Mix vinegar and water in a deep container and soak the instrument in the solution for 5 minutes. For the best effect, the container can be placed in the microwave for 1 minute at full power. After the procedure, rinse with cold running water.

Metal sponge

Contamination from the perforated plate can be removed using a metal sponge. For this method, pre-soaking is not necessary. There is no need to clean with force - there is a risk of damaging the protective layer of the grater, and it will lose its properties: it will rust or the holes will become dull.

Boiling for complex stains

The grater is placed in a pan of cold water and brought to a boil. After 10 minutes, remove from the stove and leave to cool completely. Next, wash with dishwashing detergent and warm water.

Raw potatoes

A raw potato tuber can easily remove dirt. It is enough to grate it, the potato juice will soak up the dirt, then they can be removed without any problems.

Toothpick and toothbrush

Hard-to-reach stains can be easily removed with a toothpick or toothbrush.

A toothpick can easily clean small holes, and the brush should be specially designed for this manipulation. After cleaning, do not forget to rinse the brush well and remove all food residues.

It is important to remember: after washing, you must wipe the kitchen tool with dry cloths (otherwise the tool may rust and acquire an unpleasant odor).
