In order for a greenhouse to last a long time, it is necessary to properly care for it. This is especially important to do in the winter season, since it is during this period that there is a risk that the roof will collapse under a thick layer of snow. There are four ways to clean a greenhouse from crust.
Mop with soft attachment
To remove snow from a greenhouse, it is better to choose a mop with a soft attachment, the length of which should be at least three meters. There are devices with a retractable handle. With this tool you can quickly and, most importantly, clean the surface safely.
A mop with a rubber nozzle has the following advantages:
- the long handle allows you to clear snow even from large structures;
- rubber surface does not leave scratches on polycarbonate and glass;
- low cost, everyone can buy a mop.
The snow removal itself is carried out from the bottom up to the maximum distance. The remaining crust will then roll off on its own.
Synthetic broom
Using a regular synthetic broom, it is also easy to clear the greenhouse of snow cover. The only condition is that the brush should be no more than 10 cm thick. It is also necessary to select a device with a long handle so that the broom reaches exactly half of the roof.
Synthetic rods do not damage the surface, but they do an excellent job with a thick layer of crust.
Linoleum cleaner
You can make your own device for removing snow from a greenhouse and other buildings. For this you will need:
- a piece of linoleum measuring 100x50 cm;
- ropes.
The process of assembling the structure and subsequent work is simple. Tie ropes around the edges of the material. Throw the resulting cleaner onto the roof. The ropes, in turn, should be on the sides of the greenhouse. People take hold of them on both sides and pull from the beginning to the end of the roof; accordingly, the snow is cleared off along with the linoleum.
Wooden scrapers
A good solution for those who have to regularly clean the greenhouse from snow is a homemade wooden scraper. The good thing about such an invention is that you don’t need to spend money on it, since everything you need is at hand.
You can make it from wooden blocks like a mop. The working surface can be made to any length if desired. In this case, you will be able to clear off much more snow at one time.
As you can see, there are a lot of devices for safely clearing snow from greenhouses. In some cases, you don’t even have to spend money, since it is possible to make them yourself. The main thing is to choose the right material to prevent damage to the roof.
I made a scraper from a 40x10 cm board with a thickness of 10-15 mm, drilled a hole about 20 mm and attached it to a birch pole about 3 m long, prepared from the summer. From time to time the pole actually breaks. But it's enough for a couple of years. I tried 5mm plywood, but it is light and not strong, the board is just right. When the snow is dense, the plywood nozzle does not clean.
