5 traditional methods for treating rust on fruit trees and shrubs

Every summer resident has encountered unpleasant rusty spots on the leaves of fruit trees. They can be of different shapes and sizes, but when you press on the affected areas, a brown powder, which is fungal spores, will always fall out. This fact means that the plants are affected by “biological” rust. The causative agent of the infection is a rust fungus.

Danger of rust

The disease causes the death of leaves and other parts of the tree. Rust makes plants unstable to cold, reduces the yield and quality of fruits. The disease disrupts the metabolism in plant cells; they quickly lose moisture. If you do not take any measures to combat the disease, then rust will soon attack the entire shrub or tree, leading to its death.

Folk remedies to combat rust fungus

To obtain an environmentally friendly harvest of fruit trees and shrubs, it is not recommended to use harmful chemicals when fighting garden diseases. Therefore, more and more summer residents are turning to proven folk remedies.

To increase efficiency, experts advise adding 2-3 tablespoons of silicate glue to all solutions. You should also remember that procedures should be carried out in cloudy, dry weather. At the same time, make sure that the product is not washed off by rain for several days.

Folk remedies show their high effectiveness in the fight against rust. But the best remedy is prevention. When watering plants, you must ensure that water does not get on the leaves, and if parts infected with fungus are found, you must immediately remove them by burning them outside the garden area. Affected trees can be treated with Bordeaux mixture or copper sulfate.
