Often, beginning gardeners, and even experienced owners of summer cottages, spend too much time in their garden beds. Unnecessary and useless things take a lot of strength and energy from summer residents.
Deep and frequent digging
Many gardeners believe that beds need frequent and deep digging. However, this opinion is wrong.
Intensive digging disrupts the beneficial microflora of the earth and changes the top fertile layer of soil. It is enough to carry out digging 1-2 times a year, and the rest of the time the soil can simply be loosened with a fork or rake. This procedure will fill the soil with oxygen, improve crop nutrition and conserve moisture.
Transplanting adult plants
Replanting a mature tree is another thing that is not worth wasting time and effort on. Preparing the plant, soil, hole for planting, as well as digging, takes a lot of energy from the gardener. As a result, the likelihood that the tree will take root is very low. After all, an adult plant already has a well-formed root system, and replanting can disrupt it.
Burning grass
Setting fire to weeds is a futile exercise. Burning grass damages the top fertile layer of soil, destroys beneficial insects, can lead to a fire or spoil relations with neighbors in the area.
Excess weeds make good mulch, humus or organic fertilizer.Simply pour water over the grass, let it sit for a couple of days, and the herbal fertilizer is ready.
Exotic crops
Many land owners, in pursuit of fashion, buy seedlings of exotic crops. After all, you really want to grow a banana, date or lemon. They waste money, time and effort. And young seedlings do not take root or die in the first winter.
Overwatering
Abundant watering of plants is not the key to a bumper harvest. Excessive moisture can cause root rot and also provoke various fungal infections. Watering crops must be approached wisely.
Frequent landing
Planting crops close together is another mistake gardeners make. It is advisable to leave enough space between the beds and plants. This way the plants will receive the necessary amount of nutrients, moisture and sunlight.
Properly selected tasks on a personal plot will help achieve a good harvest, save the gardener’s strength and health, and also allocate precious minutes to communicate with family.
