Garlic is one of the most useful plants that gardeners grow in their garden. It is not only useful for the prevention of various diseases, but also saves from pests, and also enriches the soil with useful microelements. This article reveals all the useful secrets of using garlic in the garden.

Garlic infusion: properties and benefits
As you know, to obtain a large harvest, garlic is not used in its pure form. Typically, infusions are made from the cloves and stems. When cleaning, the garlic peel is also not thrown away, since it produces a decoction that is nutritious for vegetable and berry crops. Summer residents spray and water the plants planted in their gardens with the resulting liquids.
Garlic infusions are destructive to many insect pests: larvae, midges, beetles; as well as for rodents and small birds. Below are the ways to use garlic solution.
First way
Liquid made from garlic is an excellent replacement for expensive chemicals. Thanks to their pungent odor, pests such as ants, earwigs, Colorado potato beetles, aphids, flies, and caterpillars leave tasty vegetable crops forever. For each insect, the proportions of active substances in the solution are different; we will describe each of them below:
- infusion against spider mites. 1 kg of yellow dandelions are soaked along with the stem, after two days 5 medium chopped heads of garlic are added. After standing for about 7-10 hours, the finished solution is filtered and used to spray diseased plants.
- infusion against the Colorado potato beetle. 6 heads of garlic and 1.5 kg of freshly cut celandine are crushed. The mixture is poured with boiling water and infused for 5 days. After filtering, the solution is ready for spraying infected bushes.
- infusion against aphids and flies. Wood ash is poured in overnight, then 1 cup of crushed garlic is added, as well as a quarter of tar soap. Infected vegetable crops should be treated with this solution every 2-3 days.
Advice! For the best effect, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of liquid soap to the prepared liquid. In this case, the treatment of plants is carried out in the evening.
Second way
Garlic solutions are excellent helpers in the fight against rodents. Soak 6-7 large heads of garlic with peels in boiling water, let it brew for 3 hours, and then fill the molehills and holes with the resulting mixture. The procedure must be repeated every 2-3 days.
Third way
If you mix hot pepper and garlic, then not a single feathered pest will get close to your fruit-bearing berry trees. Mix these plants in equal proportions and sprinkle each tree branch. The strong unpleasant smell will scare away small birds forever, just don’t forget to renew the solution after rain.
Fourth method
Liquids prepared from garlic also have a positive effect on flower plants. For example, aphids and spider mites will not settle on roses if you pre-treat them with this infusion.
Also, to strengthen the solution, it can be used when watering bulbous flowers - daffodils, tulips and hyacinths.
Fifth method
We should also talk about the effect of garlic on fungal diseases. The most effective are infusions against blackleg and late blight. In both recipes, 150-200 g of garlic are chopped, but in the second case, 1 tablespoon of mustard and ground red pepper are added. Next, the resulting mixtures are poured with boiling water and allowed to brew for a day. Afterwards, treat the plants with the resulting solution every 3 days.
Grow garlic in your garden, as it is an excellent remedy for many vegetable problems!
