Meat and bone meal is used as a natural mineral fertilizer in gardening and vegetable farming. This method can also be used to process large areas. The fertilizer contains nitrogen and phosphorus, which are quickly absorbed by plants and improve productivity.
Fertilizer before planting
Before planting, you can nourish the future plant with useful substances using meat and bone meal. It alkalizes the soil, so the mixture is suitable for increasing the fertility of soil with high acidity.
The fertilizer is suitable for feeding different crops, including:
- Trees and shrubs. Fertilizer is added to the soil when planting in spring and autumn. The composition serves as a replacement for chemical compounds, improves rooting and accelerates growth.
- Potato. In order for the root system to develop faster, potatoes require phosphorus. The additive contains the necessary substances for the development of roots and preventing the death of stems and leaves.
- Cucumbers. The vegetable needs nutrients, without which it will not produce high-quality ovaries. Bone meal contains potassium and phosphorus, which cucumbers need.
- Tomatoes. Phosphorus fertilizers improve the saturation of plants with useful substances. When adding the composition, you should adhere to the correct dosages so as not to get an excess of fertilizing.
Fertilizer in liquid form
Another option for using phosphorus-containing flour is irrigation.The powder diluted in water penetrates deeply into the soil and is absorbed in greater quantities by the roots.
Cooking method:
- for a solution per 10 liters of water you will need 0.75 kg of meat and bone meal;
- leave the solution for a week, stirring occasionally;
- pour the prepared solution under the root, consumption per bush - 0.5 l;
- One procedure per season is enough.
The use of the solution is permitted no later than 14 days before the harvest period.
Fertilizing at the stage of fruit ripening
If fertilizing was not used at the planting stage, you can make it into an irrigation liquid with phosphorus and nitrogen to saturate the soil. It is important to prevent an excess of substances in the soil.
Feeding is done as follows:
- scatter the powder around the plants (the amount of powder is from 2 tablespoons to 3 glasses);
- after adding the powder, loosen the soil around the stem;
- The procedure is carried out once a season.
By using meat and bone meal, you can get a bountiful harvest, as the soil becomes nutritious. Experienced gardeners deoxidize the soil annually in the fall after harvesting at the rate of 2 cups of product per 1 m², and in the spring they plant in prepared soil.
