Down jackets are popular because of their lightness and practicality, but they get dirty quite quickly, especially the cuffs and collar that suffer from grease. Experienced housewives know the secrets of how to quickly remove dirt and grease stains from problem areas of a jacket. In most cases, the product does not even have to be washed.
Ammonia
The component fights various types of contaminants: alcohol will get rid of greasy stains, which are often found in the collar area, sleeves and pockets. To prepare the detergent composition you will need the following components:
- ammonia - 1 tbsp. spoon;
- 3% hydrogen peroxide – 1 tbsp. spoon.
The components are mixed, and then a sponge is moistened in the resulting solution and problem areas on the down jacket are rubbed with it. Leave for five minutes and rinse with clean water. As a rule, one application is enough to get rid of even difficult stains.
Acetic acid and salt
Excellent stain remover. It's easy to prepare. Combine 500 ml of water with two spoons of vinegar essence, add 1.5 tbsp. spoons of table salt. Stir everything thoroughly until completely dissolved. And then rub the collar with a cotton pad soaked in the solution.
Old stains require longer exposure, so you need to leave the jacket in this condition for a while. After rinsing it off and sending it to dry in fresh air, this will also help the unpleasant odor disappear.
Salt and starch
Take the ingredients in equal quantities, add a little water to make a mushy mixture. Rub the mixture into the collar part of the down jacket and leave it like that. After 10 minutes, rinse with water.
This method helps eliminate even old oiliness. But in some cases the processing needs to be repeated.
Dishwashing liquid
Ordinary products intended for washing dirty dishes work well against greasy collars. To do this, add 1 tbsp to hot water, 500 ml is enough. spoon of any product, stir until foam forms.
Soak a sponge in the solution, and then thoroughly rub the dirty areas. The jacket should lie down for 20 minutes. After the time has elapsed, rinse the soaped areas with clean water.
Dentifrice
Tooth powder will help you quickly and easily clean a shiny collar. To do this, you need to apply it dry to dirty areas of the down jacket, moisten the sponge or cloth and rub. Moreover, treat not only the stains, but also around them.
After 10–15 minutes, rub again, and then rinse with warm water. As a rule, after these manipulations, not a trace of greasy remains.
As you can see, there is no need to purchase expensive products and powders to remove stains and get rid of grime. To combat problems, there are more budget options, but no less effective.
