How to clean the microwave: soda, Fairy or... tangerines

Cooking food in the microwave and even heating it causes oil and food particles to splatter inside the microwave. It's no surprise that your kitchen aid needs regular cleaning. It is not recommended to use strong chemicals for this purpose. Subsequently, their microparticles can evaporate from the walls and end up in food. The more harmless the cleaning composition is, the better. Housewives usually use dish soap or baking soda to clean the microwave oven. Is there anything else I can use?

General cleaning rules

In order for a microwave oven to serve faithfully for many years, it must be treated with care. In addition to the rules of use, you also need to follow the cleaning rules:

  • Before starting cleaning, the device must be disconnected from the power supply;
  • the walls should not be subjected to strong pressure, they are wiped with light pressure;
  • abrasives damage the enamel that covers the microwave, so their use is prohibited;
  • It is unacceptable for water to enter places directly connected to the supply of electric current;
  • When cleaning the outside of the oven, you need to use a small amount of water.

Soft materials are suitable for cleaning - sponges, napkins, rags. Try to avoid stubborn, dried stains. Dealing with them later will be much more difficult. It is better to wipe heavily soiled areas immediately.

"Fairy" - quickly and efficiently

“Fairy” has long earned the love of housewives due to its ability to form abundant foam and break down fat well. The product is used sparingly. To clean the inside of the microwave oven, you only need a drop of Fairy and a damp sponge.

This method is suitable for quick cleaning, for example, immediately after cooking or heating food in the microwave. After running the Fairy sponge over the internal surfaces, you then need to wipe them with a clean damp cloth 1-2 times to remove any remaining detergent.

Soda and vinegar - cheap and easy

Baking soda is often used in the kitchen. You can also successfully use it to clean your microwave oven. The product will work more effectively in combination with any vinegar. The solution is prepared from 1 liter of water, 2 tbsp. l. soda and 3 tbsp. l. table or apple cider vinegar. The composition is prepared in a plastic or glass container and brought to a boil in the microwave.

Then turn off the oven and wait 30 minutes. During this time, the chamber will be filled with steam, softening carbon deposits and drops of fat covering the internal surfaces. After this, all that remains is to thoroughly rinse the inside of the stove with a damp cloth, and then wipe it dry. Vinegar fumes have a rather pungent odor, so after cleaning, leave the oven door open for ventilation, and open a window in the kitchen.

Citrus fruits - safe and fragrant

You can easily clean your oven using citrus fruits. The method has long been tested and loved by housewives around the world.This method of cleaning a microwave oven is not only effective, but also brings pleasure in the process, as the kitchen is filled with the invigorating aroma of tangerine, orange or lemon (depending on which fruit was used).

The effect on old grease stains is enhanced by the presence of citrus essential oils and fruit acids in the fruits. Any of the listed fruits is cut into slices and thrown into a container with 0.5 liters of water. Place the bowl on the turntable of the microwave and start the oven for 15 minutes. After turning off, the door is not opened for another 5 minutes, and then the softened fat is wiped off the walls with a damp cloth.

If the stove is not dirty, but after cooking there is an unpleasant burning smell left in it, you can get rid of it by boiling a glass of water in the microwave with the addition of 1 tsp. citric and acetic acid. After this, the internal surfaces will need to be wiped and then ventilated. Whatever cleaning method is chosen, the main thing is to prevent excessive contamination of the device by regularly washing the internal surfaces of grease and carbon deposits.
