The spider mite is a species from the arachnid family. This representative is harmful because it sucks juices from plant leaves, after which they turn yellow, and subsequently curl, dry out and fall off. Therefore, the tick must be detected in the early stages of the disease. And since it is extremely difficult to see with the eye, you need to look at the initial symptoms in order to counteract the insect in time.
The tick's worst biological enemy
Success in the fight against this pest can be ensured by its natural enemy - the phytoseiulus mite. We need to place this fighter on the occupied leaf in a place near the epicenter of the infection.
In just a couple of days, phytoseiulus will destroy all pest individuals along with their eggs. In order to strengthen the result, you can launch new individuals at intervals of once every 3 weeks.
Using traditional methods
If you resort to folk remedies, then in this case solutions will help that will form a thin film on the leaves, as a result of which the tick will have nothing to breathe.
To form a film, the following products can help:
- sunflower or rapeseed oil;
- laundry or green soap (about 40 or a little more grams per 10 liters of water);
- garlic tincture;
- milk serum.
Plant Pin
Of the chemicals that can help at the initial stage of the disease, Plant-Pin is recommended.
This product works against most pests, but is most effective against aphids and mites.
Plant Pins look like sticks that need to be immersed in the ground near the stem of the plant. High-quality control of insects occurs after watering, since all the necessary substances for control dissolve and begin their action. The tick is destroyed within 2–3 days, and the total period of protection lasts up to 1.5 months.
Fitoverm
Several chemical preparations have been developed to combat ticks: acaricides and insectoacaricides.
Such an insectoacaricide is Fitoverm, which has proven itself very well among summer residents. But here comes a small minus. If this substance is used incorrectly, the tick may simply adapt and will not react to the drug in any way.
But if you use Fitoverm, following the instructions, and treat the plants 3-4 times in the first 3 weeks, then a positive result will not be long in coming.
Aktellik
Another remedy against spider mites is Actellik, but you need to use the drug carefully, after wearing a gauze bandage and gloves.
The drug is sold in ampoules; it must be opened and poured into 1-1.5 liters of water. Mix the resulting solution, pour it into a spray bottle and apply to the affected areas of the plant.
