Modern Ariston washing machines are among the most reliable and durable. If you do not violate the operating rules described in detail in the accompanying instructions, such units will last for many years. But in rare cases, it happens that their work schedule is disrupted. Fault codes will tell you what happened and what errors in the Ariston washing machine prevent it from functioning normally.

Ariston signals a problem

You can guess that something is wrong with the washing machine, even if it is working. Unusual notes that appear in the smooth hum of the engine, excessive shaking - all this signals that you will soon have to face a problem.

But now the next wash is being prepared, and Ariston, instead of starting to draw water, displays a fault code on the display. You shouldn’t immediately look for a suitable ad and call a specialist. You should get the instructions and try to figure out what happened. After all, fault codes are designed to help do this. If problems are not corrected in time, a small problem can develop into a big one.

If your Ariston machine is equipped with a liquid crystal display, a message will appear on it indicating the specific error number. For example: f 01.

In those models that have an LED panel, the error will be indicated by binary characters, and the image will blink.

What do the codes say?

Error codes tell you why the operation failed: whether some part has failed or there has been a break in the connection chain. Knowing what the problem is, you can try to fix it yourself.

So, if certain letters and numbers are displayed on the display, this is a hint that makes it clear what happened:

f 01. There is a short circuit in the circuit that controls the motor. When checking the controller contacts, you need to make sure that no moisture gets on the motor;
f 02. The engine of the car was blocked due to problems with the tachogenerator. The blockage could also occur due to the bearings being jammed;
f 03. There is a malfunction in the sensor that is responsible for the temperature indicators of the heating element. You need to check whether the controller is connected to the sensor correctly;
f 04. The car “can’t figure out the situation” and gives a signal that there is both an empty tank and a full tank at the same time. This means that the sensor that determines the amount of water has failed;
f 05. Problems with the drain pump, the unit cannot completely get rid of water;
f 06. Ariston is currently unable to determine the program code. It is necessary to check whether the unit buttons are working properly;
f 07. A malfunction occurred with the heating element. The heating element is not immersed in water;
f 08. The relay with which the heating element is turned on has become “stuck”;
f 09. The program mode made an error somewhere and because of this the machine does not turn on. This indicates a failure in the volatile memory;
f 10. Ariston “does not understand” whether the tank is full, since there is no signal from the sensor. Connections, wiring and the sensor itself are checked;
f 11. The pump does not respond; the machine has no feedback with it.First of all, you need to check whether the pump has failed. The connections of the connectors from the controller to the pump may also malfunction. The reason may also be in the sensor;
f 12. The electrical controller has ceased to be connected to the display module. In this case, their connection is also checked. If one of the parts does not work, you should contact a specialist;
f 13. The machine does not detect the drying temperature because the circuit has broken. You can check how the controller is connected to the dryer and whether the sensor is working. The failed part should be replaced;
f 14. There is a break in the heating element circuit where the laundry is dried. In this case, you need to check: whether the controller and the heating element responsible for drying are connected to each other, whether each of these elements is operational;
f 15. The drying heating element is unable to start because the relay contacts are stuck. Also, the “drying” mode may not be turned off;
f 16. If you have a top-loading machine, it means that for some reason the drum has blocked and it has stopped moving;
f 17. The door lock is broken. Most likely, due to the fact that the circuit is broken, power is not supplied to the right place. But everything could be simpler. You simply did not close the hatch door tightly. Try again. If the sunroof still does not latch, you may need to replace the locking lock.
f 18. The microprocessor is no longer connected to the DSP. Now it is not working correctly. The controller will have to be replaced.

Thus, most problems are associated with disruption (breakage) of circuits. To fix some problems you really need to call in a professional. But in some cases you can help the car without it.

What errors can you fix yourself?

What needs to be done after one or another fault code appears on the display:

If the heating element breaks down, that is, the part thanks to which the water in the machine is heated to the required temperature, you will see code F on the display. You will need to either replace the element that burned out, or simply correct the terminals.
The bearings could break. This problem is one of the most common in any type of washing machine. After all, most often the units are located in the bathroom, where it is damp, and during washing, liquid gets into the bearing shaft. A characteristic sound will help you understand what happened. When Ariston finishes the washing process and begins to spin the laundry, an unusually loud noise is heard. Bearings are easy to replace. True, you still have to invite a master for this. If you leave the situation as is, then the main parts of the machine - the drum and tank - may fail. Then Ariston will face an expensive overhaul.
The pump can malfunction, no matter what kind of machine you have: horizontally loaded or vertically loaded. Ariston will simply stop draining water, and you will remove heavy wet laundry from the tank. In this case, the pump winding could burn out. But sometimes everything turns out to be much simpler. In order for the machine to spin clothes properly again, you just need to clean the filters. Sometimes they get clogged with coins that accidentally went into the wash in the pockets of trousers or shirts.
If water begins to leak from the machine, you should check the hoses. First of all, inspect the places where the hoses are attached to the machine. Often, you just need to tighten the nut. In a more serious case, you will have to replace the hatch cuff.
If the bearings are working properly, but the car is still noisy and shaking, and no fault code appears on the display, check how level your Ariston is. Sometimes you just need to place something under the car, such as a rubber mat, and the problem will be fixed. If not, the tank belt may be to blame. You will have to invite a specialist to replace the failed part.

Despite the fact that modern washing machines have a rather complex design, you can still figure out the reasons for the breakdown on your own.
