In the kitchens of many conscientious housewives there is a type of cookware called a cauldron, which is ideal for preparing various dishes. After all, what delicious side dishes can be prepared in this wonderful container. And most importantly, practically no effort or time is required to prepare dishes that have been known to us since childhood. But, like everywhere else, it also has its drawbacks, namely pollution. Many of us have often wondered how to clean a cauldron from rust, carbon deposits and grease. But usually the methods were painstaking and ineffective. This is what will be discussed further.

From rust
Before understanding the control methods, it is worth knowing the reasons for the formation of rust. Rust is formed from 2 factors:
- High humidity in the room where the cauldron is stored.
- Insufficient water removal after washing dishes.
Everything is simple here. After washing, the dishes should be thoroughly wiped, or it is better to dry them in the oven at a low temperature to remove liquid from the entire surface of the cauldron. It is better to store the cauldron in a visible place, but not in the basement or pantry. Humidity forms there instantly, and before use, it is worth disinfecting the dishes for greater reliability. But if rust has already formed, then you should use methods to remove it from the surface. So, in order:
- Vinegar method. the simplest and most commonly used method for removing small amounts of rust.A vinegar solution is poured into the cauldron, which is left for several hours, after which the cauldron is wiped with a sponge. But it should be noted that a solution of oil and salt is provided for the sponge. This gruel is indispensable for scrubbing old rust stains.
- Grinding method. Here it is worth using a cleaning agent and a metal sponge. You can use a sophisticated method and polish the dishes using a drill with a gentle attachment. But here you should be careful and not touch the enamel of the surface, otherwise you will not get rid of the carbon deposits at all.
- The “No Rush” method. Everything is safe here, but quite labor-intensive. A saline solution is poured into a cauldron and boiled for noon. After this, the solution is drained and the cauldron is boiled in plain water.
- The careful method. This method involves using various types of acids. It’s quite easy to get them and the result will please the eye. But you should take all precautions, otherwise burns cannot be avoided. To do this, you should use gloves and closed clothing, including a mask, so as not to inhale toxic fumes.
- "Off-label" method. Here you can use products that are used to clean other surfaces. These can be cleaning products for stoves, microwaves, ovens, etc. You just need to apply it to the surface and then follow the instructions.
From carbon deposits
There are quite a large number of cleaning methods, the main ones being alkaline, acidic and the method that was used by our grandfathers.
- Alkaline. This method can be used with both soap and soda. You need to find a large container into which you can place the cauldron and fill it with water. And then the procedure is completely simple: pour office glue into a container with a cauldron and water and add either a pack of soda or grated soap. We boil this mixture for 10 hours (if the cauldron is in a completely dead state, then 14 hours), after which we drain it and wipe it with a metal sponge until the plaque on the surface is completely removed. The cauldron is ready for further use.
- Acid. If you went to school, you probably went through reactions of interaction between one element and another. To clean the cauldron from carbon deposits in this method, salt, vinegar and soda will be used. Pour salt into a bowl and add vinegar. After the mixture is heated, add baking soda and watch the reaction. It will not be long and you will not have to wait a lot of hours. After this procedure, the cauldron should be rinsed with water, and if the carbon deposits do not completely disappear, then rub with a metal sponge. This completes the procedure.
- Old. This method is based on the use of sand. In ancient times, there were no products that could easily wash off grease or get rid of burnt crusts. Everything was done with improvised means, which effectively helped in the fight against dirt. The carbon deposits could be removed with sand. It was worth filling the cauldron with sand and putting it on low heat. The container was heated up overnight, and in the morning the sand was poured out and the cauldron was washed with cold water. Nagara is as if it never happened. You can continue to freely use it to prepare delicious dishes.
From fat
Everything is very simple here. Here it is worth remembering the cleaning method immediately after use.As soon as you have prepared your favorite dish, the cauldron should be immediately placed in a container with hot water and poured in a regular dishwashing detergent. After 1-2 hours, using a sponge and the detergent, wash the cauldron inside and out.
If you left the cauldron and the fat has even managed to dry, then you should use more severe methods. Place the cauldron in a container with boiling water and add dissolved soap there. Now it is possible to use a liquid product, but if you have not purchased one, then it is worth grating solid soap with shavings on a grater. The cauldron will boil for several hours and will be like new. The fat will disappear fleetingly, you will not even have time to notice.
And again like new!
Cleaning activities always return a good look to your cauldron, but do not give it its original appearance. To achieve the maximum effect of beauty and attractiveness of the dishes, you should carry out the following procedure. The entire cauldron, inside and out, should be coated with vegetable oil using a cloth or cotton swab. The layer should be thin so that the oil does not leak out of all the holes. The cauldron is placed in the oven at a low temperature and then steamed for several hours. After cooling, the container will look as if you just brought it from the store. Next, you can wipe the cauldron a little with a dry napkin to remove any remaining oil. This will help avoid the formation of greasy stains on the surface where you store the cauldron.
The proposed methods will help you clean dirty containers. But here it is worth remembering one rule: it is better to immediately clean the cauldron from carbon deposits or grease, so that it will be easier to work with it again later. It is also worth considering that it is better to store such dishes in a dry room to prevent rust and fungi from developing. Dishes should be constantly wiped and dried in the oven - another important factor to prevent the formation of moisture on the surface of the pan. And the last method to prevent contamination is calcination of the container. The cauldron should be filled with salt and placed in the oven until the salt turns black. Such procedures should be carried out regularly and then no problems with the cauldron should arise in your home, and the food at your party will always be delicious. And all the visiting guests will only be jealous and ask for your advice.
