Bacteriosis of cucumbers is a dangerous disease caused by the bacterium Pseudomonas. When infected with it, spots and areas of necrosis appear on the leaves, young fruits become distorted, and their surface becomes covered with weeping and rotting sores. And if you do not take steps to treat plants from this disease, you may lose your cucumber harvest. There are several ways to treat bacteriosis.
Chemical treatments
Chemicals for combating bacterial diseases are presented on the market in a wide range: Efatol, Abiga-pik, Oksikhom, Apron XL, HOM, Medyan extra, Kurzat and many others. They must be used strictly according to the instructions. At the same time, do not forget about your own safety and protect your skin and respiratory organs.
Use of biological products
Biological products are much safer than chemicals, but they also have a slightly weaker effect. It is better to use them only in the initial stages of the disease, since they may not be able to cope with advanced bacteriosis.
To treat bacteriosis of cucumbers, the following drugs are used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions: Gamair, Baktofit, Alirin-B, Sporobacterin, Fitodoctor, Fitosporin. Biological products not only fight pathogenic microflora, but also increase plant immunity, increase productivity and resistance to adverse factors.
Traditional methods
There are folk methods of struggle.Their use also helps stop the disease in its early stages and stop its further development.
The use of onion peel infusion is effective. To prepare it, place onion peels tightly in a 1 liter jar and add 70-80 water OC. Leave for 2-3 days, then dilute with water in a ratio of 1:5 and spray daily until signs of the disease disappear.
If you don’t have onion peels, you can use the second method, popular among summer residents. To do this, pour 1 tsp into a 10 liter bucket of water. boric alcohol and malachite green. Stir the solution well and spray the plants every 10 days.
Prevention measures
It is much easier to prevent the occurrence of bacteriosis than to treat cucumbers for it later. And for this you need to observe the following preventive measures:
- It is best to purchase cucumber varieties for planting that are resistant to bacteriosis.
- Maintain crop rotation and change the place for planting annually, especially if such a disease has already occurred last year.
- Since the seeds may already be infected with pathogenic bacteria, they must be treated before planting. The following drugs are suitable for this: Apron XL, zinc sulfate 0.02%, Agat 25-K, Pseudobacterin, solutions of manganese, copper, zinc.
- Monitor the correct dosage of nitrogen when feeding, as this microelement promotes the formation of nitrates, and they are a nutrient medium for pseudomonas.
- Do not leave biological waste on the cucumber plantation, so as not to create opportunities for bacteria to colonize them.
- When watering, do not use cold water, and do not water the plants on the foliage.
- Use vertical trellises for growing cucumbers, as this method eliminates contact of the vines with wet soil and ensures good ventilation of the plantings.
