Potato tubers need preparatory treatment before planting. The procedure involves the use of preventive drugs and agents that stimulate plant growth.
Disease Prevention
Before processing begins, planting material must be sorted by size, warmed up, slightly germinated, and disinfected.
For reliable protection against diseases, one of the ready-made drugs is suitable:
- "Planriz";
- "Alirin-B";
- "Kagatnik";
- "Maxim Dachnik".
Potatoes are treated with the Planriz biological product a week before planting. The product helps prevent infection with late blight and rhizoctonia. The tubers are kept in the prepared solution for 30 minutes.
“Alirin-B” is a biological product that prevents infection by fusarium, late blight, and alternaria. Potatoes on the day of planting for 30 minutes. put into solution (tablet for 3 liters of water).
Spraying with “Kagatnik” will prevent the development of root rot, Alternaria, and Fusarium. The procedure is carried out 2 days before planting.
Fungicide “Maxim Dachnik” is a chemical substance against fusarium, root rot, scab, and rhizoctonia. One day before planting, the tubers are thoroughly sprayed or immersed in a solution for 10 minutes.
Often recommended folk remedies (potassium permanganate, ash, copper sulfate) will not be able to provide potatoes with complete protection.It is better to use ash as a fertilizer, and a solution of potassium permanganate for disinfection before the main treatment.
Pest treatment
Another real threat to vegetable crops is insects. Systemic insecticides will protect plants from attacks by the Colorado potato beetle, wireworm, mole cricket and other pests.
Some effective remedies:

- "Celeste-Top";
- "Taboo";
- "Prestige";
- "Tubershield";
- "Patron";
- "Imikar."
"Force" is used when landing. It can be added directly to the hole or sprayed onto the tubers. The product fights cockchafer and wireworm.
“Celest-Top” protects both tubers and seedlings from insects. Acts against the Colorado potato beetle, fluorimea, and potato aphids. The treatment is carried out several days before planting, immersing the seed in the solution for 15 minutes.
“Taboo” will cope with wireworms, May beetles, potato aphids, and Colorado potato beetles. Potatoes are processed before planting in the soil.
“Prestige”, “Klubneshiet”, “Pokrovitel”, “Imikar” are complex preparations that will protect potatoes not only from pests, but also from diseases.
Stimulation of growth
Preparation will be incomplete without the use of a growth stimulator.
Well proven:
- “Poteitin” (soaking; 3 days before planting);
- “Epin” (spraying; per day);
- “Albit” (soaking; 1–2 days);
- "Agat-25" (soaking; before planting).
Some gardeners find it more convenient to use insecticides and fungicides, which are also growth stimulants (Celest-Top, Planriz).
Pre-planting treatment will protect potatoes from diseases and pests at the initial stage of their growth and increase productivity.
