The use of soda for a high yield of currants

Currants are a common garden and berry crop. If the soil is not properly maintained, the yield may decrease. Bushes are often subject to diseases and pest attacks. Sodium bicarbonate, or baking soda, is a safe, cheap, effective remedy that will help solve these problems.

Fertilizing to increase productivity

  • When using mixtures that include soda, you must adhere to the dosage. Excess saturates the soil with Na, which leads to slower plant growth;
  • water for solutions should be warm, but not hot;
  • Prepare the mixture immediately before use.

Sodium bicarbonate in moderate quantities is a good top dressing: after it, the berries become fuller and the taste improves.

During the period when the ovaries are forming, you need to feed the plant with a solution. Add a tablespoon of bicarbonate to a bucket of water. For 1 bush – half a liter jar of liquid.

Foliar feeding stimulates the growth of young shoots and promotes abundant fruiting. Prepare a mixture of 10 liters of water, 5oo g of yeast, 100 g of Na2CO3. Leave in a warm place to ferment. Spray on foliage.

Tillage

For abundant fruiting and development of the root system, currants require soil of neutral or moderate acidity. Using baking soda you can reduce acidity:

  • in the spring, after trimming the branches, add 100 g of sodium bicarbonate per 1 m22. Loosen the soil;
  • mix a glass of wood ash and 2 tbsp.spoons of sodium bicarbonate. Sprinkle the soil, moisten thoroughly;
  • dissolve 1 kg of Na2CO3 in 10 liters of H20, water. 4 liters of solution are required per plant.

Disease prevention. Control of harmful insects

The crop is prone to fungal infections, especially in damp cold summers. In the initial stages, baking soda can be used for prevention. The plant is treated in the evening. The soda solution helps in the fight against scab, rot, powdery mildew, caterpillars, aphids, and mites.

Components

  • Water - 10 l;
  • NA2CO3 - 4 tbsp.;
  • liquid soap - 2 tbsp.;
  • iodine - 4 tsp.

Spray the affected plant. Repeat the treatment in a week. Unlike insecticides, it can be used during fruiting.

Moderate use of sodium bicarbonate will increase fruiting and protect the crop from diseases and pests. This is an effective method for those who prefer to grow environmentally friendly products.
