7 reasons to save the newspapers you read for everyday use

With the advent of the Internet, buying newspapers has become less relevant. If you find a bundle of paper with printing ink in the closet or attic, you should not rush to throw it away. In many cases it can bring undoubted benefits.

In the garden

You can make bags for seedlings from paper; in case of unexpected frosts, cover tomato and pepper seedlings with newspaper sheets. The newspaper is used against the growth of weeds - placed on the beds and covered with a layer of soil, placed in the lower tier when arranging a warm bed.

Package

Soft newsprint is ideal for wrapping material. During the move, you can wrap all fragile things in it - glass, crystal, porcelain. Newspapers are used when removing Christmas tree decorations after the end of the New Year holidays.

Litter and shelter

Newspapers are indispensable during repairs. They are suitable for covering furniture and windows from construction dust and dirt. Cans of paint, containers of glue and other staining building materials are placed on the paper.

Newspaper sheets are ideal as bedding in cages for pets - parrots, hamsters, rabbits, making them easier to care for. In slushy weather, you can lay a newspaper in the hallway and place dirty shoes on it.

For ignition

Many rural settlements still have stove heating. In summer cottages, newspaper can be useful for creating a flame when lighting a bathhouse or frying kebabs. When camping or fishing, newsprint will help you light a fire for cooking. Covers of glossy magazines should not be used for ignition. This releases a large amount of harmful substances and produces an unpleasant odor.

Storing things

Experienced housewives know that moths cannot stand the smell of printing ink. By putting away hats and other winter items for storage, wrapping them in newspaper sheets, you don’t have to worry about the appearance of flying pests. Packed clothes will not become covered with dust.

Use as moisture-absorbing material

In rainy weather, the whole family may come home with wet shoes, an electric dryer will not be enough, and it is not recommended to place boots on the radiator. Newsprint has excellent absorbent properties. If you stuff your shoes tightly with crumpled sheets, they will absorb moisture.

This property is used when washing window glass and mirrors. The washed surfaces are wiped with lumps of newspaper, after which they quickly dry and become shiny.

Elimination of unpleasant odors

If mustiness appears in the refrigerator, it is recommended to place rolled up sheets of paper in different corners of the equipment. It is useful to line the bottom of vegetable trays with newspapers, which will absorb excess liquid, preventing the formation of mold. Fruits and vegetables will last longer.

Giving things a second life is convenient and economical. By reusing materials, waste and landfills are reduced. If every person takes care of this problem, our planet will become a little cleaner.
