How to make glass cleaner from products on hand

A high-quality window cleaning product is not necessarily a chemical product that is purchased in the household department of the supermarket. Many housewives prefer improvised means. Their advantage is lower cost and availability.

Soap solution

A solution containing soap is the most used product for cleaning double glazed windows. It allows you to wash glass and plastic clean.

To prepare a soap solution use:

  • soap shavings;
  • liquid detergent;
  • shampoo;
  • washing powder.

The selected cleaning agent is added to warm water. The solution is shaken until foam appears. Wash frames, window sills, and slopes with a soapy rag. Lastly, the foam is applied to the glass.

In case of severe contamination, leave the soap foam for 5–10 minutes, then rinse off. The windows are polished dry.

With lemon juice

Lemon juice is often used to clean double glazed windows. Its advantage is its light citrus aroma. The effect is achieved through the action of acid on pollution.

To prepare the product, mix 250 milliliters of warm water with a quarter glass of lemon juice.

Using a spray, the prepared liquid is distributed over the glass. After this, the surface of the glass is wiped dry with a dry cloth. For severe contamination, first use a soap solution to remove the main dirt.

With glycerin

Glycerin is not an independent window cleaning product, but it is often used at the end of cleaning.It adds shine, protects glass from fogging, and reduces the amount of dust on the surface.

For the composition use:

  • 40 milliliters of water;
  • 60 milliliters of glycerin;
  • 3 drops of ammonia.

The ingredients are combined in a glass jar or bowl and stirred thoroughly. The composition is applied to clean glass with a cotton swab or cotton scarf. The composition is rubbed in until the surface is dry.

With starch

Potato starch has proven itself well in cleaning dusty surfaces. It allows you to get shiny glass without a single streak.

To dilute the product, add a spoonful of potato starch to a liter of water. The ingredients are mixed and spread with a cloth over the surface of the glass. After this, the starch is kept until completely dry. When the glass becomes dry, wipe off the product with a clean, dry cloth.

With vinegar

Acetic acid has an unpleasant strong odor, but it allows you to clean glass from old stains. Vinegar does a great job of removing fly marks, bird droppings, and greasy stains.

For the product you need:

  • a quarter liter of water;
  • a few drops of dish soap;
  • a tablespoon of acetic acid.

The ingredients are combined in a spray bottle. The liquid is applied to the surface of the glass. Wash off the product with a sponge. Finally, the glass is polished with microfiber.

Another effective remedy with vinegar contains alcohol and starch. Potato starch (1 spoon), 50 ml of vinegar and alcohol are diluted in 0.5 liters of water. The components are mixed and applied to the glass.

Vinegar, alcohol and starch provide a combination that allows you to remove heavy stains, reduce the likelihood of bacteria developing, and add shine to windows.

With ammonia

Ammonia has an unpleasant odor, but it is suitable for cleaning glass. When working with it, be sure to use gloves and a mask to protect your respiratory system.

For preparation you will need the following components:

  • 1 liter of water;
  • 1 tablespoon of ammonia.

The components are mixed in a spray bottle or in a separate container. The product is applied to the windows with a rag or sprayed. Immediately after application, the glass is polished with newspaper. If the composition is not wiped dry, streaks will appear on the surface.

Recipe for very stubborn stains

During repairs, persistent stains may appear on the windows, such as traces of paint, plaster, or primer. Experts recommend using a mixture of vinegar and ammonia in high concentrations to combat them.

For the recipe you will need:

  • 200 milliliters of water;
  • 20 milliliters of ammonia;
  • 20 milliliters of vinegar.

The mixture is spread over the surface with a rag. After a few minutes, rinse thoroughly with water and wipe dry.

With fabric conditioner

Fabric softener will help you get clean glass and a pleasant smell. Add 1 measuring cup of conditioner per liter of water. The composition is shaken and distributed over glass or mirrors. After this, it is washed off with clean water. Glass is polished with microfiber or newspaper.

When using available window cleaning products, do not forget about safety precautions and the sequence of work.Washing starts from the inside and ends with the outside. Use rubber gloves to protect your hands. Homemade window cleaners allow you to get excellent results at minimal cost.
