No matter how thoroughly the house is cleaned, the carpet is subject to systematic contamination. Dust gets stuck between the fibers, which changes the appearance of the carpet, and the worst thing is that dust accumulates in the air.
The most effective way to get rid of dirt on a carpet is to take it to the dry cleaner, but this is expensive and not always convenient. The second option is to dry clean the canvas yourself. It is more convenient than wet in that it can be carried out at any time of the year without fear that the carpet will not dry out, and everything happens much faster in time. There are many special products on sale for cleaning rugs and carpets, but home life hacks are just as good.
Baking soda
A simple and effective way to clean a rug with baking soda. To do this, scatter soda generously over the coating and thoroughly rub it into the pile using a sponge or cloth. Then you need to wait 30–40 minutes, during which time the soda, like a sorbent, will absorb dirt and unpleasant odors. Use a powerful vacuum cleaner with a carpet brush to remove baking soda from the carpet.
Salt
A natural cleaner is salt, which is also good for cleaning carpets. Its main advantage is its absorbent properties and environmental friendliness, thanks to which kitchen salt is able to remove dirt, grease and odors absorbed into the pile.
The cleaning procedure itself is identical to cleaning with soda, only you need to take into account that the salt needs to be finely ground, “Extra” is best. To completely clean the carpet, the procedure is repeated several times in a row. Salt cleaning is suitable for both long and short pile carpets.
Semolina
Another natural carpet cleaner is semolina. It must be used raw and on a completely dry carpet. Small grains of semolina should be rubbed into the coating with a brush, thereby collecting dust on it.
During the cleaning process, the semolina will begin to swell, absorbing not only grease and dust, but also various kinds of stench. The cereal does not need to be left on the carpet, like soda or salt; semolina is immediately collected with a vacuum cleaner.
Tea brewing
Another good method of dry cleaning, but there is one thing! Tea leaves are only suitable (!) for coverings of dark colors, otherwise the carpet may become stained.
To clean, take the used tea leaves and squeeze it well so that it remains slightly damp. The tea leaves are spread over the carpet and left for 20 minutes, then collected with a broom or vacuum cleaner. During this time, the tea leaves will absorb dust and give the flooring a pleasant smell.
Snow
Many people remember this method from Soviet times. No matter how many things are now called a relic, this cleaning method is really useful. Of course, it is only suitable for frosty winters, since the snow should be hard and prickly. Grains of snow thoroughly clean dirt, dust, and rid the carpet of odors, bacteria and microorganisms, since they die at low temperatures.
The procedure itself is simple: the rug is spread out on the snow and snow is thrown over it, then it is swept away with a broom and knocked out, the procedure is repeated until the snow under the rug is clear.
To effectively clean your rug, it is not necessary to buy expensive special products; you can use folk remedies, which, not only are many times cheaper, do not cause allergies.
