Candles, which have long become a popular item of home and holiday decor, can present the owner of the house with an unpleasant surprise. How to quickly remove wax from carpet pile without damaging it and avoiding stains?
Iron
The most affordable way to remove wax is to use high temperatures. To do this you will need an iron and thick napkins. Before starting the procedure, you must wait until the wax has completely hardened.
First, collect the largest parts of the resulting puddle. You can break off pieces with your hands, cutlery, or hard flat pieces of various materials. This stage will reduce the subsequent amount of work.
Next, you need to put a napkin on the contaminated area and heat the wax through it with an iron. The melted paraffin will be absorbed into the paper and will remain there after removal. You need to change wipes as they become dirty, avoiding using one of them for too long.
When the carpet is clean, you need to walk over it with a damp towel or brush. The latter should easily pass over the entire surface of the carpet without clinging.
In addition to napkins, you can use thick fabric or paper, also without holding the iron in one position.
Ice
It is better to remove colored wax using a cold method to avoid bright stains of dye on the pile. You need to be especially careful with light-colored carpets.
First, you need to wrap ice or a frozen semi-finished product in a bag so as not to wet the carpet, and apply it to the already cooled footprint for at least half an hour.
Next, use a hard card or similar object to remove the frozen layer.
Laundry soap will help remove stains remaining after cleaning. You need to wash the carpet with a damp, thick cloth until all traces disappear, then dry the soap stains with a dry cloth.
kitchen mixture
The method is suitable for fresh stains.
To remove them, you need to mix salt, table vinegar and soda, mix until a homogeneous paste and apply a thick layer to the wax mark, leaving for 15-20 minutes to absorb.
The mixture can be easily removed with a stiff brush, including a toothbrush. To eliminate the odor, the remaining trace can be washed with warm water or soap.
Chemicals
To remove small stains without traces of dye, you can also use:
- Medical alcohol.
- Acetone.
- Kerosene.
- White Spirit.
On dark carpets, such a procedure can leave lightened marks and a pungent odor, so you should resort to them only in extreme cases.
The main thing in removing wax stains is to take your time and not touch them until the paraffin has completely cooled. With due patience, even large puddles of color will leave the light pile without leaving a trace behind.
