Coffee spilled on clothes immediately leaves dark stains that ordinary washing powder cannot always remove. The sooner you start removing them, the easier and faster it is to deal with them.
Subtleties of removing coffee stains
Cleaning methods depend on the type of fabric and its color. Before cleaning the stain using the chosen method, it is recommended to test the product on an inconspicuous area of clothing.
Cotton is washed with laundry soap. For synthetics, ammonia or vodka is used. Citric acid and ammonia are used on denim. Do not wet suede too much; it is permissible to use vinegar or foam dishwashing detergent. Wool and silk are delicate fabrics for which hot water and prolonged soaking are contraindicated; an aqueous solution of ammonia and laundry soap is used.

Laundry soap
It is better to use laundry soap rather than toilet soap. The contaminated area is carefully soaped and rinsed in warm water, this is done several times. For old stains, it is better to prepare a solution: grate the soap, pour boiling water, cool to room temperature. The resulting slurry is applied with a sponge or brush for half an hour. Suitable for any fabric.
Hydrogen peroxide
Copes with most contaminants; in advanced cases, add a few drops of ammonia.Gently pour over the stain and remove excess with an absorbent cloth. After ten minutes, wash the item with washing powder. Peroxide has a bleaching effect, so it is used only on white and light-colored fabrics.
Lemon acid
The material must be pre-cooled; to do this, it is wiped with a piece of ice. The stain is moistened with lemon juice or a solution of citric acid, after fifteen minutes the item is washed in warm soapy water. Suitable for colored items.
Ammonia
50 ml of ammonia is added to 300 ml of boiling water, along with 50 g of grated laundry soap. After cooling, apply the solution to the stain with a brush or cotton pad. Repeats several times. This method is used for synthetics and woolen fabrics.
Vinegar
Only table white is used. A tablespoon of soda is added to a small amount of washing powder, all this is extinguished with vinegar. The foaming mass is applied to the stain for several minutes. Jeans can be washed well this way.
Basic rules for dealing with coffee stains
To successfully remove such contaminants, the following should be remembered. You should wash soiled clothes as quickly as possible, at least with cool water without powder. You can sprinkle the stain with fine salt. You cannot wash things with hot water. The choice of cleaning method depends on the characteristics of the fabric. Soft brushes and sponges are suitable for applying the detergent composition; you should not vigorously rub the dirty place on the clothing, so as not to increase its size and not to rub the dirt deep into it.
After all procedures, items must be washed in accordance with the recommendations on the labels. To avoid allergic reactions, rubber gloves should be used.
