Grease accidentally spilled on the carpet is difficult to remove. It quickly saturates the threads and hardens. You can't wipe it off with a napkin. The spot will only increase in size.
What determines the difficulty of removing stains?
The composition of carpets can be natural or synthetic, with long or short pile. Cleaning different products has its own characteristics:
- It is better to dry clean a natural product. It is unlikely that you will be able to remove grease at home using conventional products available in stores. Professional chemistry is needed here.

Alcohol will come to the rescue. You need to take a few paper towels and soak them in alcohol. Place towels on the greasy stain and press slightly. After a few minutes, gently wipe the area. Repeat several times until the dirt disappears. Rinse with plain water.
Mixing vinegar and dish soap makes an effective cleaning solution. The solution is applied with a sponge. It is recommended to rub a little to create foam and wet the pile. Then rinse with clean water. For old stains, the mixture is diluted with hot water.
The safest remedy is lemon juice. Removes fresh dirt well. Pure juice is used for synthetic carpets, and diluted in half with water for woolen ones. Cotton cloth is generously moistened with juice and applied to the stain. Leave for 30 minutes and let dry.
Technique for removing grease stains

- You can clean the carpet with a washing vacuum cleaner only once every six months, so that mold does not grow in the pile and the structure of the backing does not collapse. But if you accidentally spill grease on it, you can immediately use a washing assistant. A solution of special shampoo with water is added to the container as a liquid. All that remains is to clean the product and dry it.
- It is not allowed to clean the pile with a steam generator, but the oil can be treated with steam, and the carpet will be like new again. Just before cleaning, you need to carefully remove dust and solid particles.
