Today, many people strive to maintain perfect cleanliness in their home, bordering on sterility. A variety of detergents are used, most often labeled “kill 99.9% of germs.” But why do we need such purity and is it beneficial for the human body?
The benefits of dangerous microbes
Scientists from the University of Montreal have proven that excessive disinfection provokes allergic diseases. This is due to the fact that the body is deprived of the ability to develop natural immunity and becomes vulnerable to every microorganism.
Beneficial and harmful microbes live in any living space. From birth, the child comes into contact with a small number of them, as a result of which he learns to live with them. And the more often a person comes into contact with them, the more his immune system strengthens. And if you constantly kill and wash away these bacteria, the digestive tract will not have natural protection, but it is the one responsible for the body’s immunity and defense.
Of course, you can boost your immunity with special pharmaceutical preparations - pharmacies offer a large selection of probiotics. But this will not change the situation much. After all, when a home is thoroughly washed of microorganisms, a vacuum is created in it, which is not characteristic of the natural environment.
Instead of microbes - mushrooms!
Not all clean people know that in a disinfected house, instead of microorganisms, fungi of the genus Aspergillus appear. They grow in places that are most often treated with antimicrobial agents: in the bathroom, in the toilet, on the refrigerator door, in the kitchen sink. This microbe is able to mutate and adapt to poisons.
About 200 of its spores enter the lungs per day, but if the immune system is in order, it will be able to resist them. However, if the immune system is impaired or weakened, mold will penetrate the body and provoke allergic diseases. Most often, such patients are diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, conjunctivitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis. This microbe is especially dangerous for people suffering from leukemia, in which case there is a high probability of death.
What to do?
Nobody says that you need to live in unsanitary conditions and clean your house once every six months. But doctors warn that washing your home too often and thoroughly is not beneficial for residents. Scientists believe that it is enough to stop trying to achieve sterility in the house, and use mild, non-disinfecting substances during the cleaning process. Areas in the “risk zone” require thorough cleaning: the curtain in the bathroom, the door in the refrigerator, the rubber seal in the washing machine. They should be wiped dry and wiped with a vinegar solution.
It is impossible to completely get rid of germs, bacteria and mold, and this is quite normal. But in every home you can maintain order without excessive sterility by using essential oils in the cleaning process - tea, eucalyptus, lavender. They inhibit the growth of microorganisms, but do not harm the health of residents.
It is also advisable to use natural cleaning products instead of aggressive synthetic ones. Today, many manufacturers offer cleaning gels and powders consisting of natural components. They are safe for the respiratory tract, while they do not kill all germs and bacteria in the house without exception, creating a sterile environment, but maintain a normal level of cleanliness and protection from pathogens.
