Zelenka is an antiseptic and healing agent that is found in almost every home and was used by our mothers and grandmothers. But opening the bottle is very inconvenient. There is almost a 100% chance that your fingers will get dirty. And one awkward movement - and green spots on the floor, on furniture, on clothes. These stains are very corrosive. Therefore, the very first rule when removing brilliant green stains is to wash it as quickly as possible.
Removing brilliant green from skin
In a few days, the brilliant green will wash off from your fingers by itself, because you wash your hands several times a day. Also, if other parts of the body are dirty, you can simply lie in the bathroom, steam the skin and rub it with a washcloth and soap (the most effective is household soap). The stains will not come off in one go, but within a couple of days it will definitely come off.
If you want to come to work, school, kindergarten, or visit without green spots on any part of the body, you can use the following methods.
- Baby cream. Apply the green spot on the skin, walk around with the cream for about an hour, then take a bath and rub the skin with a washcloth.
- Hydrogen peroxide. Wet the cotton wool and rub. The product is quite gentle, so the stain will come off after some effort.
- Makeup remover or special wipes for computer care.
- Olive oil. Like the cream, you need to keep it on the skin for about an hour, then take a bath.
- For those who are not allergic to citrus fruits - lemon. Rub a slice of lemon onto the stained area of skin.
- Alcohol or vodka.For greater effectiveness, pour a little vodka or alcohol into a bowl and add a few drops of lemon juice. Soak a cotton wool in the resulting liquid and rub the stain.
- Toothpaste. Apply, rub, rinse.
- The main remedy is bleach. But it’s worth using it if you need to clean it urgently, and there’s nothing in the house except bleach. Still very harmful to the skin.
- Baking soda. Dilute to form a paste, apply and rinse.
To speed up the process, you can combine several methods. For example, apply oil to the stained area of skin, wash and then rub with lemon.
But be sure to remember that you cannot use strong products such as alcohol and bleach on damaged skin. It's not good for the face either.
Removing green paint from floor coverings
Carpet, linoleum, tiles are the next contenders for decoration with green spots. The hand can shake at any moment. And the hand of the one who processes and the hand of the one who is processed. Especially if these are restless children. They are interested in everything, and sometimes they are scared because it will hurt. Therefore, it is better to carry out the procedure itself away from the bottle with brilliant green.
Carpet. Powder, bleach, stain remover, special carpet products, alcohol. Apply the powder and rub with a brush. Apply the remaining products and leave for about half an hour, then rinse. It is possible to remove a stain from a carpet with a 10% ammonia solution - wet a napkin and blot the stain.
Linoleum. If you immediately begin active actions, simply hot water and a rag will help.
You can apply soap solution, powder or potassium permanganate to a damp cloth. Rub the stain, then rinse with clean water and wipe dry.
A mixture of powder and ammonia will also help. Apply, leave for a while, then rinse.
Another 3% or 5% hydrochloric acid solution. Soak a rag in the liquid, place it on the stain, and after a few minutes wipe it off.
You can also use regular bleach. But it must be applied for several hours, so there will be a persistent smell of bleach in the apartment.
Tile. Wipe with soapy water or alcohol.
Laminate. Dampen a cloth with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and scrub gently. Or pour the powder onto a pre-moistened floor and leave for half an hour. Then wash off the powder.
Wooden varnished floor Wipe very carefully so as not to damage the surface. Soak a cotton swab in acetone or solvent and slowly blot the stain several times. Don't rub!
Removing brilliant green from furniture
Every housewife's worst nightmare is a green antiseptic stain on the work surface of a kitchen unit, on a sofa or chair. You shouldn’t get hysterical, you need to act. And the sooner the better.
- An eraser. Wet the stain with water and rub with an eraser.
- Alcohol, vodka, hydrogen peroxide. There will definitely be some of this in the house. Dampen a cloth and wipe off the stain.
- Just like on skin, you can use wipes for computer or office equipment.
- Baking soda plus vinegar. Pour in baking soda, add a little vinegar and the stain will disappear on its own.
You can remove green stains from upholstered furniture and fabric upholstery using the following methods.
- Dilute starch with water and apply the resulting paste to the stain. Remove the stain when the mixture is dry.
- 10% ammonia solution. Apply to a cloth and blot.
- Stain remover. Be sure to follow the instructions.
Do not use bleach! The green spot will disappear, but in its place a new one will appear - whitish, which will no longer be possible to get rid of.
Removing greenery from wallpaper
Sometimes it happens. Nowadays there are wonderful medical pencils containing iodine or brilliant green for ease of application. They look like a felt-tip pen and, once in the creative hands of a child, they will be used for other purposes.
Nothing can save paper wallpaper. They will need to be sealed with new ones. And vinyl and non-woven ones can be cleaned.
- Alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Soak a sponge or cotton wool in the liquid and gently blot the stains. Do not rub, but leave to dry. The spots will fade and disappear.
- Starch will help again. Dilute with water and apply the resulting slurry to the wallpaper with a sponge or brush. Wait until it dries completely and remove the dried mixture with a dry sponge.
- Soda and vinegar. Use a damp sponge to blot the stained surface. Apply baking soda. Then soak a sponge in vinegar and blot the stain with it. Then, again using a damp sponge, remove the remaining soda and brilliant green.
Removing stains from clothes
The stain can be placed on clothing by opening a wonderful bottle and by directly treating a wound or pimple. There is also a disease called chickenpox. We open the Zelenka several times during a week or two to treat small pimples. During these days you will have to wash a bunch of clothes and bed linen stained with brilliant green.
In general, a good stain remover will help here. For white things - bleach. First, the item is soaked for a while, then washed with regular powder. Just be sure to carefully read the instructions on the stain remover and bleach and the label on the clothing.Fabrics are different and it is important to follow all recommendations regarding time and proportions in order to remove the stain and not spoil the item.
In general, the dye that is retained in the brilliant green is destroyed when exposed to light. Even if you do nothing at all, the stains from the brilliant green will disappear on their own over time. But quite a lot of time should pass - two to four weeks. It all depends on where the brilliant green spilled and in what quantity. Although it is a rare housewife who will be able to look at this stain every day and wait for it to disappear.
Therefore, it is worth using the methods described. And if these methods did not help or helped, but the stain did not disappear completely, you will have to be patient.
