Red wine stains found on a tablecloth or clothes are a completely common phenomenon that even the most careful people occasionally encounter. It is impossible to predict the appearance of these contaminants, but they are very easy to remove without having special cleaning products on hand.

Methods for removing fresh wine stains
Before embarking on “aggressive” cleaning methods, it makes sense to resort to products that are as safe as possible for the fabric.
Most experts pay attention to table salt, which is able to effectively absorb liquid. If you notice the stain right away, apply a mixture of cold water and salt to it and thoroughly rub it in. If the dirt does not go away immediately, repeat the procedure. It will not get rid of all traces of the incident, but it will give you the opportunity to “save” your clothes by later washing them in water with the addition of powder or soap.
However, it is not always possible to resort to “saving” table salt. In most cases, you have to wait until the end of the event, mentally saying goodbye to your favorite item of clothing, because it is believed that there is no way to remove red wine stains. For those who are not ready to despair, there are several solutions to the problem.
- If possible, immediately blot the stain with a damp cloth, without allowing the wine to soak into the fabric. Afterwards, to remove the stain, you will have to wash the product in cold water with the addition of ammonia (a teaspoon).
- If the fabric cannot be washed, then it is always possible to remove the stain using a mixture consisting of three parts vodka, one part ammonia and the same amount of glycerin. Most often, this method helps, although it remains undesirable for painted items.
- You can remove wine stains from colored clothes using egg yolk and glycerin (equal parts). In order to achieve complete destruction of the stain, you will need to apply the mixture to it, leave it for several hours and wash the clothes in warm water.
- The most difficult stain to remove from red wine is silk or wool. These materials are quite capricious and require a special approach. You will need glycerin and wine vinegar mixed in equal proportions. Wipe the contaminated area with this solution, then rinse with cold water.
- Wine stains are also quite difficult to remove from cotton fabrics. In such cases, enterprising housewives resort to using yogurt or hot milk. By wiping the affected area with these components and washing the item in soapy water, you can achieve complete destruction of the stain.
Removing old wine stains
Knowing certain tricks, you can remove even an old stain. For example, to destroy old and long-dried traces of wine, it is enough to use hydrogen peroxide and ammonia, which can be purchased at any pharmacy. Also, citric acid will act as an assistant, the solution of which gets rid of even the most difficult stains. By dissolving 2 grams of acid in a glass of water, you can get a powerful remedy.
Take care of your clothes and remember that you can clean almost any stain if you want!
