Bright, sunny dandelion flowers, like a little sun, attract children of all ages. And adults sometimes do not deny themselves the pleasure of weaving a beautiful wreath on their own or their beloved daughter’s head.

But while your hands are busy picking flowers and arranging bouquets, the insidious juice leaves its traces on your favorite clothes. Unfortunately, simply washing the item in this case will not be enough. The stain is so caustic and persistent that even your favorite powder with a laundry enhancer is powerless.
Of course, mothers of little mischievous children do not give up and there are several quite simple and effective ways to save clothes from yellow stains.
Household chemicals help us
If earlier parents of children tried to dress them simpler for a walk, now they don’t have to worry about a beautiful set. Of course, in those years there was not yet such a variety of different chemicals. Today, every mother has a fairly diverse selection of products in her arsenal that help in the fight against “natural” pollution.
But before you try any product on clothing, conduct a trial experiment on an inconspicuous, small area.
You can try to remove dandelion juice using:
- Liquid stain remover. If you notice traces of dandelion juice right away, pour the liquid on the stain and also add it when washing. A fresh stain should come off.
- Dry pencil stain remover. In a hardware store you can see an unusual pencil on the shelf. A damaged item with dandelion stains is soaked in water and rubbed with a pencil.Leave the resulting foam for 15-30 minutes. Next, wash as usual. These pencils are very convenient to take on a trip. It doesn’t take up space and allows you to treat your clothes before you get home and soak them.
- Bile soap. This soap is specially created to remove biological contaminants. Dandelion yellow stain responds well to bile. We just soap the thing and three. The juice literally dissolves in the fibers of the fabric. Then you need to rinse well.
- Plumbing products. A little surprising, but quite effective method. The main thing in this case is to carry out an additional test of the fabric for strength. Take any plumbing cleaner and pour it on the dirt. The juice from yellow flowers is removed very quickly. Important! This method is not suitable for silk and brightly colored items. To avoid damaging the fabric, do not keep the product on for long. 1-2 minutes will be enough.
- Bleach. If stains from yellow dandelions appear on white things, then you can get by with regular bleach. Mix it with powder and wash. The item will look fresher, and the corrosive juice will be washed off.
Grandmother's funds
Not every item can be treated with aggressive chemical bleach. And there are people who do not expose their children's clothing to strong powders. After all, a child’s skin is sensitive and allergic reactions are not so rare.
Therefore, if dandelion appears on your baby’s favorite dresses and pants, try safe home remedies.
- Laundry soap. An ordinary bar of laundry soap does not lose its relevance at all. You shouldn’t ignore it and buy it only for grandmothers for washing.Every home should have such a piece. With its help, you can wash out not only bright yellow stains from flowers, but also other stains from children's pranks. And most importantly, there will definitely be no rashes on the child's skin.
- Lemon juice. A little surprising, but wonderful advice. Yellow dandelion juice is perfectly removed with yellow lemon juice. And by the way, laundry soap will come in handy here too. Squeeze the lemon directly onto the dandelion stain and leave it alone for about 10 minutes. Then wash the item with laundry soap. Advice! Add a packet of citric acid to the compartment of the washing machine along with the powder. The items will not only get rid of dandelion stains and any other flowers, but will also acquire a scent and freshness.
- Festal tablets. A couple of festal tablets from your first aid kit will help remove the juice of a yellow flower. Crush the tablets and treat the stain with powder. Experienced mothers claim that this advice is effective and, most importantly, does not damage the fibers of clothing at all.
- Dishwashing liquid. Baby dishwashing liquid is suitable not only for removing grease from plates and spoons, but also helps to remove stains. If you take equal parts of dishwashing liquid and ammonia, you will get a homemade bleach that can be used even for the clothes of the smallest children. Dandelion juice is treated with this product and simply rinsed. The color and fibers of the fabric do not suffer.
- Iron. As soon as you notice a bright yellow stain from a dandelion, boldly take an iron and two sheets of paper. One sheet under the clothes, the other on the stain. While ironing, gradually move the dirty part of the paper sheet. So gradually the stain goes to the paper. Then the thing should be washed.
- Vegetable oil.Another piece of advice that some people find puzzling. But after trying it, many are convinced of its effectiveness. Yellow dandelion juice is moistened with any vegetable oil. You should, however, use refined oil. But light oil will not leave its own mark. Then laundry soap comes to the rescue again, with which we lather and wash off the oil, along with the dandelion stain.
- Onion juice. Onion juice is quite smelly, but it will help to cope with the dandelion stain. You should rub the stain and then simply wash it. Moreover, you need to throw the clothes into the machine without rinsing the clothes from the onion juice.
- Hydrogen peroxide + ammonia. If you have a teaspoon of ammonia and a couple of spoons of hydrogen peroxide in your first aid kit, then mix them and treat the dandelion stain. The stain will gradually come off and you can use regular washing.
- Potassium permanganate solution. Sometimes you can see advice to use a potassium permanganate solution to remove the stain. Perhaps the dandelion juice will disappear, but the item itself will also acquire a faint pinkish tint. Therefore, this method may not be used for all clothes. Red, pink and other similar clothes may well be subjected to such cleaning. Of course, white shirts and light dresses cannot be immersed in potassium permanganate.
- Gasoline. It happens that some advise using gasoline to remove a dandelion stain. But still, you should not do this, especially with children's clothes. Gasoline is very flammable and combustible. If safety precautions are not followed, a fire is possible. Still, clothes are not worth risking your health.
If, nevertheless, clothes are expensive for you and the method you used did not help, then contact a professional dry cleaner. There they will remove dandelion stains and keep your clothes fresh.
All stains, not just dandelions, are better removed when they are fresh. Therefore, you should not delay removing them and try to use any remedy at your disposal. As you can see, there are quite a lot of these funds. They are quite diverse and probably at least one of them can be found in any home. The main thing is not to despair, try and everything will work out.
